Summary of the role The main purpose of your role is to provide student learning support and academic support within built environment discipline areas as part of our pprenticeships Team. The job purpose is as follows: 1. cademic Programme Support: You will engage with programme, unit and module tutors to contribute to the co-ordination, development, operation, management and design of our programmes. 2. Student Learning Support: You will support the apprenticeship programmes by designing and implementing activities in relation to the achievement and success of our students. You will be responsible for supporting students to be academically engaged in their modules and programmes of study, with the aim of maximising progression and completion. Using your communication skills, you will connect and build a rapport with a wide range of stakeholders and respond appropriately to their needs. Key responsibilities include supporting student learning, recruitment, retention and success through ensuring a positive learner experience. Duties and responsibilities You will work with both cohorts and individual students to deliver academic and subject specific guidance to enable them to be effective independent distance learners. 2 achievement, completion and success. You will support UCEM to become OFSTED ready. ctivities will include, but are not limited to: cademic Programme Support Work with members of staff to signpost and support students who are not engaging, or who are at risk of being less successful or withdrawing. Promote and enhance student performance, retention and success through creating learning activities which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students. Prepare and deliver workshops to students, liaising with other staff to ensure that they are confident to deliver your materials. Liaise with other staff who have prepared learning materials, to ensure that you are confident and prepared to deliver these to students. Support the promotion and embedding of British Values, Safeguarding, Prevent, Equality and Diversity and English and Maths throughout the apprenticeship programme. ssist in monitoring, maintaining, developing and enhancing quality standards on programmes and units. Verify and scrutinise planned assessment activities. Student Support Monitor student queries, and respond within a timely manner. Monitor and support student progress, engagement and retention. Conduct personalised academic progress reviews with students, and complete progress review paperwork. Provide feedback to students on their academic work, showing them clearly how they need to improve. Support the promotion of pastoral care and motivation of students within allocated faculty programmes to support them in their learning (ensuring appropriate signposting of students to utilise additional student specialist services where appropriate). Collaborate with members of the pprenticeship Management Team, including pprenticeship Coordinators to maintain standards, and ensure that timely and effective reporting is provided on student s progress. Ensure that students are kept safe, by promoting the Prevent duty to learners, supporting the work of the Designated Safeguarding Lead as required and reporting any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead. 3 PERSON SPECFCTON = pplication/cv = nterview T = Test Qualifications and training Relevant academic qualifications (to at least first-degree level) Relevant professional membership or postgraduate qualification Teaching qualification or equivalent and/or a Higher Education cademy (HE) fellowship (or must be willing to undertake a qualification). Previous experience Relevant demonstrable experience of working with students to support them to be successful Experience of facilitating independent study Experienced in the delivery of programmes and modules within a Further or Higher Education setting, whilst adhering to relevant Q procedures ndividual and/or small group coaching in an academic or professional context Skills, knowledge and aptitudes bility to produce innovative study materials to enthuse students Knowledge of issues surrounding online learning Excellent communication and presentation skills in particular an ability to communicate with people of all ages and levels Knowledge of the operation and management of academic or apprenticeship programmes bility to communicate complex ideas effectively Knowledge of the built environment and/or willingness to undertake a qualification in this area. bility to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues UCEM 05/2018 Page 3 of 5
