1 What is PATRAM? PATRAM, the International Symposium on the Packaging and Transportation of Radioactive Materials, is a series of symposia that brings together worldwide experts from government, industry and research organizations to exchange information on all aspects of packaging and transportation of the radioactive materials. The Symposium has become the premier forum on these issues and is the only meeting in the world devoted entirely to this subject. The Symposium takes place every three years alternately in the United States and a non-u.s. location. PATRAM 2004 will be hosted by Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und prüfung (BAM) in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA and the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management INMM Exhibit Information Exhibition Area The exhibition will be located in the lobby and passage of the ESTREL hall. Refreshment stands will be integrated into the exhibition area. The space for exhibition is upto 500 sq. m. net (Total area is more than 1000 sq. m.). Allocation of stand areas Exhibition stands Several stand sizes from 9 sq. m. to 54 sq. m. will be available and can be arranged in a flexible way to fit the needs of the customer. Please study the enclosed floor plan. Reservation and provision of the rented area with following basic equipment*: - fitted carpet - daily and final cleaning of carpet - general guarding of the exhibition area during the night - provision of an electrical connection * Connections to water, gas or compressed air cannot be provided. The stand system as described above will be the standard equipment for this exhibition. PATRAM 2004 will be held under the patronage of the German Federal Minister for Transport, Building and Housing, Dr. Manfred Stolpe. In cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the US Institute for Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) the symposium will be performed in continuity to former PATRAM meetings. Every three years this symposium gives the representatives of industry, administrations and research institutes worldwide the opportunity to meet and exchange views and information on all aspects of the safe packaging, transport and storage of radioactive materials. In the period since the last PATRAM conference the revised IAEA Regulations for The Safe Transport of Radioactive Materials, TS-R-1, have been implemented in the international and national regulations. The 2004 symposium will form a forum to reflect experiences with the implementation and look forward to proposed improvements. As a whole the symposium shall underline the sound technical and scientific basis for the safe packaging, transportation and storage of radioactive materials, including necessary security aspects and giving support in the discussion of public concern.
