2 ORGANISATIONAL ENVIRONMENT / OPERATIONAL FRAMEWORK The Marketing and Engagement team works in collaboration with Archdiocesan Communications and the Catholic Foundation fundraising team to make up the Resource Development Office, which is part of Archdiocesan Services. The team is based in Cathedral House, 229 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City The Archdiocese of Brisbane incorporates the following agencies: Centacare Archdiocesan Services Archdiocesan Development Fund Evangelisation Brisbane Brisbane Catholic Education
3 MAIN PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE OF ROLE / PRIMARY OBJECTIVE This position works with the General Manager, Marketing and Engagement to develop and implement strategies and campaigns to effectively market Archdiocesan services and engage with key audiences, as a part of an overarching Marketing and Engagement framework. A key focus will be to support the Archdiocese s service delivery arm, Centacare, to deliver of a broad range of social services (including disability, aged care, child care and family services) and participate effectively in an increasingly competitive market environment. The Manager, Marketing and Communication will work closely with the General Manager and Directors of Services to identify and analyse market opportunities and develop and implement effective marketing and engagement plans which align with Archdiocesan mission and values and the Centacare brand, while responding to local needs. The incumbent will collaborate with colleagues in the Marketing and Engagement, Archdiocesan Communications and Catholic Foundation teams to develop and deliver timely, innovative consumer and donor focussed content and products across a range of digital and offline channels, ensuring integration of brand and messaging. The Manager Marketing and Communication will lead market and consumer research, engagement and analysis and will be responsible for monitoring industry trends and competitor behaviour, to inform marketing activities and development of Archdiocesan services. The role will include stakeholder and community relations. The incumbent will support leadership teams with issues, advocacy strategies, event planning and, and development of media, speech and presentation materials. The Manager, Marketing and Engagement will also contribute to development of internal communication and engagement strategies which inform and support external marketing and communication activities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Marketing and communication strategy Contribute to the development of and implementation of an overarching Marketing and Engagement framework Develop innovative integrated marketing and communication strategies and plans to support Centacare and other Archdiocesan services, utilising a range of contemporary channels and tactics, which reflect consumer behaviour and preferences. Identify key audience segments and develop appropriate messaging and channel strategies. Set clear objectives and lead market and consumer research/engagement to inform and evaluate marketing activities. Identify opportunities to inform and support external marketing activities through internal communication and engagement.
4 Project Collaborate with directorates and enable the contribution of media, digital strategy and design specialists to ensure the development of best practice strategies and plans. Develop and coordinate implementation of project plans to deliver high quality, timely and effective marketing and engagement activities. Deliver regular reporting and tracking of outcomes and insights from marketing and communication activities, demonstrating the value of initiatives and building the capability of the organisation to capitalise on future opportunities. Oversee production processes for high quality print and other collateral. Written communication Produce creative and compelling consumer focussed content for a range of channels including internet and intranet sites, social media, fundraising campaigns, print publications and digital and offline advertising. Produce clear and concise plans and briefing materials. Prepare engaging media, speech and presentation materials which reflect strategic objectives and the interest and understanding of audiences. Media and issues Work with the Archdiocesan Communications team to: Monitor the media environment, provide advice to leadership teams on emerging trends, risks and issues and build organisational capacity to engage in public dialogue. Identify opportunities for positive media and work with business areas, consumers and the media to maximise coverage. Maintain the media database. Community relations and event Develop strategic event and engagement plans to deliver identified outcomes. Identify and develop external partnerships and community participation to enhance the scope of and participation in engagement activities. Work with business areas and other team members to ensure events are well-planned and professionally managed. Stakeholder Internal Build and maintain effective, collaborative and respectful working relationships with leadership teams, directorates and colleagues. External Provide strategic advice to leadership teams to support positive stakeholder relations and contribute to the development of advocacy strategies. Initiate and develop effective working relationships with external stakeholders and partners. PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT Your performance in this role will be assessed according to: a performance review by the General Manager Marketing and Engagement satisfaction of internal clients (Directors of services) and other Archdiocesan leaders the timeliness and quality of your work and adherence to budgets CUSTOMERS
5 EXTERNAL Service consumers Online communities Partners Other social service agencies Government agencies Media outlets Archdiocesan donors INTERNAL General Manager Marketing and Engagement General Manager Communications Director Resource Development Executive Director Archdiocesan Services Executive Director Centacare Directorate Directors Vicar General REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge / Qualifications: Relevant Bachelor level qualification Highly developed understanding of contemporary approaches and emerging trends in marketing and communication and consumer engagement Work Experience: Significant experience in relevant marketing and communication roles, including leading project teams in the delivery of integrated marketing activities Experience working across large and complex organisations and/or in human or member services is highly regarded Competencies: Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and evaluate effective integrated marketing, communication and engagement strategies that meet the needs of diverse audiences Highly developed project and reporting skills including the ability to communicate in a clear, concise and articulate manner. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to research, write and edit content for a range of channels to a high professional standard Broad knowledge of current affairs and experience in media and issues, publicity and event Ability to manage digital strategies and social media campaigns as a part of integrated marketing efforts.
