Covalently binding chitosan polymers to InGaP@ZnS quantum dots for enhanced interfacing properties with cells and tissue. To track the release behaviour of polyelectrolytes multilayers of chitosan and hyaluronic acid within an artery using confocal and electron microscopy. Designing a reagentless protein-based nanobiosensor for selective small molecules detection using conformational dependent interactions between a redox active metal complex ion Ru II and the surface of a CdSe nanoparticle. Protein Chemistry: Protein Growth and purification via column chromatography, French press, SDS and acrylamide gels. Cell culture techniques and western blot analysis. Recombinant DNA technology: subcloning, point mutations and sequencing.
3 Synthesis of organic, coordination, and organometallic compounds and semiconducting nanoparticles. Expertise in maintaining and handling air-sensitive materials using glove box, anaerobic bag, and Schlenk line techniques. Routine use of Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis), Fluorescence, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) to determine structure, particle size and the morphology of nanoparticles. Frequent use of Mass Assisted Lazer Desorption Ionization (MALDI), Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (H NMR), Cyclic Voltammetry, Fourier Transform Infrared Red (FT-IR), Quartz Crystal Microbalance-Dissipation (QCM-D), Confocal Microscope and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Surface Plasmon Resonance Imaging (SPRi).
