2 Responsible to: Accountable to: Business s Manager Head of IT Services Overall Purpose The reason the job exists. What is done, to what or whom and with what result. To have technical ownership and design authority for the University s SharePoint Plats. To be responsible for managing and undertaking all SharePoint development work to maintain and enhance the University s digital assets and document management system. This post will also provide support for upgrades, patches and improvements to the University s other digital assets. The post holder will work closely with the Digital Development Lead to participate testing, transition and acceptance in to service of new and or changes to existing digital assets. Principal Duties and Responsibilities To take technical ownership and be the design authority for the University s Microsoft SharePoint plats taking the lead and acting as the technical expert on all things SharePoint. To be responsible for managing all SharePoint development work whether in house or development contracted out to third party developers and specialist suppliers. Translate digital designs into functional specifications that can be developed in SharePoint. To undertake in house SharePoint software development and support activities with primary focus on the University s digital assets such as the Document and Records Management system, the student and staff hubs, and Self Service portals. To undertake development to a consistently high standard in line with industry best practices and in house development standards. The production of Low Level Design (LLD) documentation in support of solution design and build. The design and delivery of non-functional unit and integration specifications as part of project activities working with the Integration Lead as necessary. Actively manage the lifecycle of the University s SharePoint plats including strategic planning activities and operational governance. Estimating development effort as part of project planning processes. To support the transition and operation in to live service of new SharePoint and other web developments or changes to existing digital assets ensuring developments are tested and operational documentation and handover is carried out satisfactorily in line with change management and service transition procedures. To build and maintain relationship with external organisations where SharePoint applications extend to external sites or providers. Working with Specialists provide technical support and advice at all stages of the Lifecycle. Page 1
3 Participate in peer review processes, including code and documentation review To ensure the University s digital assets are effectively supported over agreed support hours. Identify and analyse trends or patterns related to incidents and develop improvement plans as part of continuous service improvement To maintain digital asset architecture documentation and standard operating procedures including application and system schematics, integrations, administration procedures and procedures such as daily tasks, installations and monitoring where relevant. Ensure the statuses of incidents and problems are kept up to date in the service desk system and the customer is kept ined. To monitor SharePoint integration perance and resolve and fix incidents and problems as necessary in line with service management principles and Service Level Agreements. To contribute towards the effective provision of disaster recovery and business continuity for the University's digital assets. To liaise as necessary to enable efficient operation of the Universitys digital assets both inside and outside the organisation, including where applicable with suppliers. To document application and system administration tasks so these tasks can be completed by other support personal such as First Line support where appropriate. To maintain a good level of knowledge of existing web development technologies and to be aware of future technical developments in this field. To assist with the evaluation of new web technologies for their potential deployment within the university. To understand how the University's business processes relate to the University's digital assets. To participate in the on-going development of IT Services and to represent IT Services on appropriate working groups. To participate in relevant, HE sector and professional networks to maintain knowledge and skills levels.ld specify only the highest level of duties and should be limited in number. Generic Duties and Responsibilities The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Business s Manager.
