1 STS Developer Job Specification JOB DESCRPTON Employment status: Hours: Location: Department: Manager: Liaises with: 1 x Permanent, full time or part-time considered 1 x Fixed-term, full time or part time considered (for up to 24 months) Full time is 35 per week, Monday to Friday 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Horizons, 60 Queens Road, Reading, RG1 4BS Student Record Systems and Data Team Student Services Jess Handley, Head of Student Record Systems and Data nternal stakeholders, department/team colleagues, external T services providers Summary of the role n 2015 University College of Estate Management (UCEM) formed a dedicated STS team to oversee the development and maintenance of the STS Student Record System; we are now looking to expand this team further into the Student Record Systems and Data Team. You will play a leading role in the development of UCEM s STS:Vision system, with a particular emphasis on configuration and development of e:vision. You will provide development expertise to support the delivery of institutional and departmental objectives. Duties and responsibilities e:vision configuration and content development, including: o Portal administration, including set-up, maintenance and administration of the e:vision portal. o Task Management o Vistas and Data Maintenance facilities o SRL Standard Letter/Report facilities o STUTALK o Student nformation Desk o harvesting Develop and maintain a full technical and functional appreciation of UCEM s STS:Vision system, and its interfaces, to other information systems, acting as the technical and process expert for e:vision and ensuring that all relevant supporting documentation is maintained. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with system users at all levels and act as a key interface point between the Student Record Systems and Data Team and system users. Participate actively in project-related user groups. Design and develop testing approaches to include the production of scripts, acceptance criteria and the running of testing sessions with internal staff who have the responsibility of reporting defects. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of appropriate systems and technologies and participate in Tribal and sector interest groups and forums. Develop and deliver user training and provide high quality advice and support to users. UCEM 02/2018 Page 1 of 5
2 Assist in the preparation, submission and monitoring of data, for statutory returns, in accordance with published deadlines (e.g. HESA returns, LR returns for apprenticeship provision). Assist in the preparation and presentation of data requested by external regulators and inspectorates (e.g. QAA, HEFCE, Ofsted, OfS). Design and develop unit testing and UAT procedures for e:vision content. Coordinate the testing and roll-out of system upgrades and updates for e:vision. Ensure ongoing data validation and compliance with Data Protection Act/GDPR. Ensure change management for system changes is implemented in accordance with agreed procedures. Work with Tribal consultants on the implementation of new features or the fixing of issues. ncrease the level of efficiency and automation of key functional areas. Support and develop knowledge of other UCEM Student Record Systems and data management tools including; PCS, OneFile, PowerB, dotmailer, Agresso. Support the Head of Student Record Systems and Data in delivering UCEM objectives, undertaking any other duties that fall within the scope of the role. 3 Experience of working with data and explaining data to users using appropriate formats Experience in the production of data to meet the requirements of statutory returns and ad hoc data requests by external bodies Technical and other skills, knowledge and aptitudes Experience of working within a Tribal STS based environment A Experience of working within Student Record Systems other than Tribal STS:Vision (.NET 4.0 (C#) and VB.NET), JavaScript, jquery, HTML, CSS, XML T Experience of working within a Pellcomp PCS based environment Experience of working with relational databases using SQL/T- SQL Experience of Further Education system, record and data management God communication skills and the ability to describe complex technical solutions to technical and no-technic audiences Experience of other programming and web development language Excellent organisational skills Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to disseminate complex information in a clear and appropriate manner and to produce high quality reports and documentation. This training will be both face-to-face and online. Any prior training in these areas is helpful, however it will not make you exempt from undertaking training with us. BENEFTS Salary range 40-45,000 per annum Full Time Equivalent. 24 days paid holiday (rising with service to 27) plus paid bank / public holidays and up to 5 paid closure days; all per holiday year.
