3 RMA President s Report October 2006 Newsletter My 3 year period as President has ended with the recent appointment of Glendon Dickinson to the position for the 2006/2007 year. I congratulate Glendon on his appointment and wish him all the very best. I am confident that he will bring new leadership and fresh ideas to the RMA for the benefit of all members. The RMA and it s members play a significant role in the Local Government sector in Victoria. We have formed strong relationships with relevant Government Departments and industry organisations such as the Valuer General s Office, State Revenue Office, Department of Human Services, Victorian Electoral Commission, Municipal Association of Victoria and the Municipal Group of Valuers. We have also established links to interstate Local Government Rating bodies such as NSW Rating Professionals, South Australian Institute of Rate Administrators and Queensland s Local Authorities Revenue Management Association. It is these relationships and the networking of all RMA members that combine to enhance the sharing of information, new ideas and the overall improvement of our business. Personally I have enjoyed the challenge of being President of the RMA and look forward to continuing to play a role on the Committee. Rod Leith, F.R.M.A. Ph rodleith@ballarat.vic.gov.au I would like to thank all members, particularly those who served on the Committee, for their support during my 3 years as President. The role of President is often viewed as the key role but in reality, certainly in the case of the RMA, it is the work done by the whole Committee that keeps the RMA functioning.
