5 We Have High-Performance Facilities Within our building, we focus on energy and water conservation, waste recycling, and using green products and materials. High performance facilities provide a foundation for a successful green meetings program. For Example Millions of gallons of water are saved each year through several water savings initiatives such as water flow controllers, low-flow shower heads, an automatic irrigation system with precipitation sensors, and water saving defrosting systems. Over 60 recycling points for collection and separation of recyclable materials and 6 food digesters allow us to recycle more than 4,000 tonnes of waste materials and convert more than 500 tonnes of food waste into grey water each year. 90% of our properties lighting uses energy efficient bulbs including the latest LED technology; The St. Regis Macao, Cotai Central, and The Parisian Macao are our first ` 100% LED lighting properties. Some of our outdoor light poles at Sands Macao are equipped with micro wind turbine systems which enable them to be off the electricity grid. Our intelligent building management system constantly monitors our utilities, allowing us to reduce our overall energy consumption and respective carbon footprint.
