2 Purpose of the role : To provide timely, efficient and effective clerical support to wards and departments and the community for the Radiology Service Ensuring patient confidentiality at all times. KEY TASKS EXPECTED OUTCOMES Customer Service Patients treated in a professional and courteous manner. Patients are arrived into the department in a timely manner. All relevant telephone/pager enquiries and fax requests are answered promptly. Queries from patients, staff and the general public are answered promptly and politely, and callers to experience a positive interaction and positive impression of the organization. Assist as required with patient examinations in imaging rooms including PAT slides. MITs will make all technical decisions and provide instruction regarding assistance required. Be aware of all patients waiting, regularly check; are they waiting for an exam/orderly, etc. Follow up as necessary. Answer patient call bells; notify staff if unable to assist. Assist with toileting patients as necessary. Transport patients to ED if requested Radiology Administrative Duties Be conversant with all computer systems demonstrating a good understanding and sound knowledge of the RIS, PIMS and PACS systems. Be conversant with the printing of Hard copy images if applicable. Be conversant with the burning of CD copies Be conversant with digitizing procedures. Able to ascertain that the patient s demographic and personal details are correct prior to consultation. Ensure patient confirmations/reminders are processed in a timely and accurate manner if required Ensure community e referrals are processed in a timely and accurate manner Ability to work on different desks in times of staff absences or as directed by the Clerical Administration Manager. Other reasonable tasks required by the Clerical Administration Manager and Radiology Coordinator to meet the overall purpose of the job To recognise Individual Responsibility for Workplace Health and Safety under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 All requested tasks are performed according to instructions in a timely manner, working across both sites if required. Company health and safety policies are read and understood and relevant procedures applied to their own work activities. Workplace hazards are identified and reported, including self-management of hazards where appropriate. Can identify health and safety representative for area. Statutory and Treaty of Waitangi obligations Ensures the professional and political integrity of WDHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive. Shows sensitivity to cultural complexity in the workforce and patient population. To recognise individual responsibility for workplace Health and Safety under the Health and Safety Act 1992 and Amendments 2002 Support WDHB H&S Culture by: All Employees Following and complying with H&S policies and processes and applying them to their own work activities Identifying, reporting and self-managing hazards where appropriate.
