2 Redeplyment Due t Ill Health Guide fr managers Overview General principles The prcess Redeplyment is a prcess by which suitable alternative emplyment in Ryal Mail Grup is sught fr emplyees wh are unfit r unable t carry ut their nrmal rle due t ill health r a cnditin even after reasnable adjustment are cnsidered. This guide illustrates a flwchart f the redeplyment prcess. This shuld be read in cnjunctin with the Attendance Plicy and Wrk Fllwing Health Prblems Guide. The manager can nly cnsider an emplyee fr redeplyment where; The emplyee has a lng term illness r has a cnditin which affects their ability t perfrm their nrmal rle effectively, even after reasnable adjustment are cnsidered and all ther ptins have been exhausted, fr example, mdificatin t their rle via a change t their hurs, wrking times r cntent f their rle. See Wrk Fllwing Health Prblems Guide The emplyee has requested redeplyment n the grunds f ill health, and is supprted by advice frm the Occupatinal Health Service The manager shuld hld a redeplyment meeting with the emplyee t discuss the emplyee s ability t wrk, t identify the wrk they are capable f perfrming, based n medical advice and t capture any ther issues affecting the emplyee. A Redeplyment Cnsideratins frm is available n the Plicy and Infrmatin site n PSP and may be used t supprt the discussin. Where it is established that redeplyment int anther rle wuld be a suitable ptin, the manager shuld explre ptential rles and psitins available in Ryal Mail Grup using the Scping fr redeplyment pprtunities letter available n the Plicy and Infrmatin site n PSP as apprpriate. Befre the prcess the manager: Cntacts Occupatinal Health Services, as apprpriate, fr advice n what the emplyee can d befre scping fr suitable rles. 4 Rute 1 Business Recmmends The emplyee has an illness/cnditin that means they are unable t d their jb effectively, with r withut adjustments Rute 2 Emplyee Request Emplyee has requested redeplyment n the grunds f Ill Health r a lng term cnditin. Request ccupatinal health advice Request OH advice where apprpriate, assess whether this is the right ptin fr the emplyee and see what supprt we can ffer. Is redeplyment apprpriate? Is redeplyment Inapprpriate? Manager lks fr pprtunities It s yur respnsibility t cntact recruitment/neighburing ffices t find suitable vacancies (using the template letter n PSP) fr 2 weeks. Describe suitable rles, hurs available t wrk, skills/experience and ability t travel. If n lcal vacancies available, lk t the wider RMG cmmunity fr a further 2wks Suitable psitin? Ntify the emplyee and cmplete emplyee change request Discuss the new rle with the emplyee, if the emplyee accepts the rle cmplete an emplyee change request frm (ECR) if apprpriate. N suitable psitin? Evidence cnsideratin f redeplyment Write-up evidence f cnsideratin f redeplyment including; whether r nt the emplyee is cvered by the equality act, referrals t OH and advice, ntes f meetings, feedback frm unin reps, cnversatins between managers, details f rles refused by emplyee.
