Origin is a dynamic place to work with an active development programme and big ambitions for the transformation of services over the next three years. A social heart with a commercial focus best describes the culture of Origin. The Board has recently reviewed the business strategy and has confirmed it wishes to remain a community provider of housing and support services to the vulnerable and those on low incomes as well as young professionals. We have a wide range of business streams from leasehold management, housing for keyworkers and general family accommodation, through to housing with support services for vulnerable people (including specialisms in learning disabilities) and community support services. Having been in existence for over 90 years, our housing stock is very varied, from walk up mansion blocks in the heart of London to new mews houses in Hertfordshire. Over the next three years we have ambitious plans to transform the way we deliver our services. We are developing our website and corporate customer service centre to enable customer self service and a swift and efficient response to routine services enquiries. Specialist teams within Operations will be well equipped to manage buildings, customer relationships and handle complex housing, care and support functions; supported by cutting edge customer relationship management software. This is in response to our customers requirements and to help us achieve reductions in operating costs. We have taken the opportunity of the departure of our current Director of Housing to exciting new pastures (after 4.5 years) and the beginning of our transformation project to review the structure at the Executive level. This is a new role with different responsibilities designed to enable you to focus on those things that are most important to the customer and it will mean you will be managing very significant change and improvement within our business, but joining a team of colleagues who are supportive and collaborative in their approach. To succeed you will be passionate about customer service, enthusiastic about reshaping services and able to motivate staff to embrace the change and learn new ways of working. A demonstrable track record of embedding and sustaining change is essential. The role will suit a leader who wants to be hands on, working alongside staff to help them develop and deliver great results for customers. You will share the corporate leadership of the business as part of an experienced and supportive Executive team. 5 Origin provides housing for those who are unable to afford to rent privately, and helps working households on modest incomes to own their own home. We also provide services to people with support needs to enable them to live fulfilling independent lives. We build new homes which provide quality housing at a subsidised rent available for those on lower incomes. Other homes we build are available on a part-rent, part-buy (or shared ownership) basis for customers who aspire to own their own home but who cannot afford a full mortgage at market rates. We also build some homes for outright sale, because the profits from the sales help to finance our charitable activities. We strive to be a top-performing landlord and are always looking at ways to develop and improve the services we offer. For tenants, we provide a full landlord service. For leaseholders and shared owners, we look after the maintenance of the fabric of the building and communal areas, and their care and upkeep, with owners being responsible for their individual homes. For those who need them, we offer support services to enable residents to live independently and safely in their home and maintain their tenancy effectively. This may include advice on money management, or practical help with running a home, finding a job or adaptations to make homes more suitable for the resident s needs. We recognise that the neighbourhood is as important as the home, a place where residents are proud to live. We therefore assist residents to become actively involved in shaping their local communities through initiatives like community associations and volunteering. 7 THE BOARD Origin Housing Steve White Chair Steve is an experienced business leader, who specialises in leading strategic change in organisations in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. This includes a period of four years as Chief Executive of the Hyde Group, a large London-based housing association. He is also a Trustee of Centre 404, a learning disabilities charity. Steve was coopted to the Board in April 2015 and became Chair in August Nicky Wilden Vice Chair Nicky is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in the property industry. Nicky s roles have includedchief Finance Officer at one of the largest privately-owned property companies in the UK, Corporate Finance Director of an Aim-listed property company, and director in the corporate finance teams of two of the top global property service providers. Nicky is a Non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of London & Continental Railways. She joined the board in 2013 and is the Vice Chair, and Chair of the Governance Committee. Suzanne Davies Suzanne is a Chartered Accountant who has worked in the corporate finance sector for 19 years where she acted as a financial advisor raising private equity and banking finance. She now runs her own property management business and has several non-executive roles in charitable organisations, including the London Early Years Foundation, where she holds chairing roles on finance and audit committees. She chairs the Origin Audit & Risk Committee. Jolyon Griffiths Jolyon is a Chartered Accountant (FCA) with some 20 years experience in the financial services sector. He has extensive experience as a Chief Finance Officer and 12 years experience in investment banking, covering a wide range of products including equities, corporate finance, and fund management. He currently has a portfolio of part-time and consultancy roles. Jolyon joined the Board in He chairs the Investment Committee. 7

8 Origin Housing Anne Bowers Anne is a management consultant with more than 15 years of experience working with public sectorbodies to improve delivery. She specialises in the intersection between health and social care for adults and for children. She is associate director of PPL Consulting, having recently worked freelance for the past four years. Anne joined the Board in Mash Halai Mash is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with 20 years experience, the last 10 years in both the private and affordable housing sectors. Since 2006 he has been an Equity Partner at John Rowan and partners, and Head of Residential Development and Regeneration. He is responsible for the development and successful delivery of new-build residential schemes, delivering over 500 brand new homes per year. At main board level he is Deputy Chairman with responsibilities including implementing key business initiatives, new business innovations and reviewing the strategic direction of the business. Mash joined Origin Board in March Mary Gibbons Mary is the Executive Director of Strategy and Support for Swan Housing Association. She has worked in the housing sector for over 20 years. She is an experienced Director and housing professional, specialising in housing, regeneration, and care and support. Mary is also Managing Director of a commercial care and support company that gift aids its profit to Swan. Mary has previous experience working as a voluntary Board Member for a charity specialising in support services for ex-offenders. She joined the Board in December Stephen Mutton Stephen is an experienced housing professional, having undertaken senior leadership roles in twoprominent housing organisations. He has previously worked at the political centre of two London local authorities, as well as at the House of Commons. Stephen lives in East London and is an Origin leaseholder. He joined the Board in April

9 Origin Housing Gordon Wright Gordon is a senior finance executive with particular experience in the SME and Mid-Market sectors covering arange of industries including residential and commercial property development. In his last executive role he was the CEO of a financial services business regulated by the FCA. He is a chartered accountant by profession and was previously the Finance Director of a listed company engaged in residential property development primarily in London and the South East. He was later appointed a Non- Executive Director in that company serving on both the Audit and Remuneration Committees during this time. He joined the Board in December 2015 and has been selected to become the successor Chair of Origin s Audit Committee in

10 Origin Housing THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM Karen Wilson, Chief Executive Karen Wilson has been Chief Executive since November She has over 30 years experience in the industry. Her career started in local government. Karen then spent 10 years at Metropolitan Housing Trust as Regional Director, with responsibility for development and housing services, and latterly as Director of Planning and Operations, deputising for the CEO. Four years as at English Churches Housing Group followed, which included leading the extensive supported housing business. Karen is also a statutory appointee to the Management Committee of Quadrant-Brownswood Tenant Cooperative, and a Trustee of Women in Sport. Cathy McCarthy, Director of People Services Cathy has over 25 years experience in Housing and Social Care. She has been at Origin since 1999 in a variety of roles and is responsible for our Care & Support services, Human Resources, Business Improvement and Community Development activities. Previously she has worked for PCHA, London Borough of Hillingdon and a number of other London based charities and housing associations. Gareth Jones, Director of Development Gareth is a qualified Building Surveyor with over 25 years experience in residential development work. He previously worked for PCHA in a range of development roles including Regional Development Manager and Head of Land & New Business, and at Genesis Housing Association, where he held the post of Assistant Director of Development before joining Origin as Development Director in early Chris Trebilcock, Director of Finance Chris qualified as a chartered accountant with Binder Hamlyn and remained in public practice until 1992 when he joined British Rail, where he was involved in the privatisation of its rail freight business. He remained within the rail freight industry as financial controller of EWS until A period as financial controller with Plan International was followed by a post as Group Business Support Director for Hanover Housing Association prior to joining Origin in November

Directorate To service the Boards and other Committees as required To lead, motivate and ensure development of all teams within your Directorate to ensure quality and quantity of work is of the agreed standard and objectives are achieved. To have lead responsibility for: routine maintenance and estate services, housing management services, and care and support services across the range of tenures and customers. 11

17 Origin Housing PRINCIPAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS Position: Salary and Benefits: Circa 100k, a team bonus is payable, up to 10k, for exceptional performance Holiday Entitlement: 30 days rising to 34 with length of service Pension: Up to 8% of salary where matched by the employee Car allowance: Mileage rate of 45p mile payable. Car ownership not essential for the role. Working Hours Normal hours of work for this full-time position will be a minimum of 37 hours per week, however flexibility is required in order to complete the job. Location: Your normal place of work will be at our offices in Euston, however given the seniority of the role, travel across all our operating areas is expected. 17
