Apply online at The Atlantic Canadian Organic Regional Network (ACORN) is a member-based, non-profit organization that strives to enhance local organic agriculture. From seed to farmer to consumer, ACORN works to bring the whole picture together making food choices healthier and more environmentally responsible. ACORN facilitates information exchange, coordinates non-formal education for producers through to consumers, and networks with all interested parties regionally and nationally. In 2018, ACORN will likely be hiring one summer student and one recent graduate as an Events and Administration Assistant. The summer student will be involved in updating organic resources, such as the online Organic Directory and the Atlantic Organic Production Survey, translating ACORN s website and increasing outreach to the Francophone farming community, and coordinating partnerships for Organic Week to promote local organic food and farms. The Events and Administration Assistant will work with the Events Coordinator to coordinate key events, including ACORN s Annual Conference, AGM and Speaker Series, Winter Webinar Series, Winter Online Conference, and Annual Organic Forums. They will help identify training and event priorities, confirm speakers, and coordinate volunteers. The assistant will also provide administrative support to ACORN s Executive Director, such as web site development, event registration, membership management, and broader budget and financial development.

More than 90,000 Canadians serve in the Forces in over 100 trades and professions. The Forces are made up of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army and the Royal Canadian Air Force. Some jobs are specific to a certain environment. For example, if you want to be a Pilot, you ll serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force. If you want to be an Artillery Soldier, you ll serve in the Canadian Army. Other jobs such as Legal Officer or Medical Officer may be filled by members from any of the three environments. Forces members are strong, physically active and enjoy teamwork. But there are several different paths high school graduates may choose. Selecting the right path is important to ensure the overall satisfaction in their future career. Non-Commissioned Members are the backbone of the military. They are high school graduates with specialized training for specific occupations. In some cases they hold diplomas in specialized fields from Canadian colleges. Often they are technicians and operators. Ideal candidates for NCM positions are people interested in technology, in working directly with the systems that keep military operations up and running. They enjoy working with others to problem-solve and are motivated by a job well-done. Officers are the leaders or managers. They hold bachelor degrees from either the Canadian Military College System or another Canadian university in a field relevant to the type of work they will be doing. Often they do specialized, strategic jobs like pilots, marine engineers, and command troops. (Link to Service Options, Officer) Ideal candidates for Officer positions are people interested in leading teams, being responsible for very important projects, and who think strategically. They enjoy motivating others and working with teams to solve problems. CSIS The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is at the forefront of Canada s national security establishment, employing some of the country s most capable men and women. With careers in over 100 specializations, ranging from analysts, intelligence officers and IT specialists, CSIS provides an opportunity like no other. CSIS s role is to investigate key threats, analyze information and produce intelligence used to advise the Government of Canada to protect our country and our citizens.
