1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: RESPONSIBLE TO: Fundraising Special Projects (including fundraising for London Brough of Lewisham) Fundraising Head of Fundraising Sydenham Primary Job Purpose Work across the organisation raising the profile of St Christopher s as well as funds across the Borough of Lewisham. This position will ensure the Fundraising efforts are in synchronisation with Communications, Clinical, and Trading teams and that these presences in Lewisham are mutually supportive and that lessons learnt in Lewisham can be retrofitted and replicated in the hospice s other four Boroughs. Responsible for the physical engagement between the hospice its patients, supporters and volunteers throughout Lewisham Support the efficient operation of the Fundraising team and the delivery of Fundraising projects according to plan. You will be a hands-on problem-solver, a self-starter, highly motivated and encouraged to use your own initiative. The fundraiser will have support and training from other members of the fundraising team across both St Christopher s sites. Principal Accountabilities Strategy and planning 1. Supporting the Lewisham Project team in the delivery of the St Christopher s strategy for Lewisham, the special projects fundraiser will research and make contact with organisation and groups throughout the borough to facilitate the physical expansion of St Christopher s into the borough. This includes the development and propagation of demographic intelligence and its application across the hospice for its key stakeholders in service delivery as well as to support fundraising initiatives. 2. Essential will be the development and maintenance of a dynamic project management plan that is driven by the integrated Lewisham team with input from all key internal stakeholders, including the volunteer team. 3. Support the efficient operation of the Fundraising team and the delivery of Fundraising projects according to plan Communication 3. Key to the project s success will be a focussed internal and external communications strategy aimed directly at raising awareness of St Christopher s in the Borough of Lewisham. The incumbent will have to inform and liaise with the Communications team on the issues and characteristics specific to communities within Lewisham that will in turn pave the way for increased referrals and uptake of all care services, as well as establishing the charitable status of the hospice to engage an array of supporters over

2 time. The Incumbent will then have to physically facilitate the delivery of the communications strategy across the borough in run up to the formal launch and ensuing years of service delivery. 4. To ensure all events/promotions are given the appropriate level of publicity/promotion by working with the Communications team and generating content for publications and corporate e-bulletins Clinical 5. The integrated Lewisham team will ensure that actual service delivery of care in the Borough is mutually supportive of the hospices Communication, Fundraising and Trading goals and the special projects fundraiser will have a liaison role with the surgeries, clinics, and care homes already present throughout Lewisham looking for long term opportunities to raise funds. Fundraising 6. Key to the ongoing success of the new Lewisham contract is the creation and embedding of a giving culture across the Borough. The integrated Lewisham team will work with the special projects fundraiser who will coordinate fundraising activity across the Borough and, through research, fast track the campaigns that can quickly establish themselves and begin to deliver the additional funds required to deliver St Christopher s full services for the people of Lewisham. An important part of the role will be to attend events as a representative of the hospice, and to collaborate and lead the organisation of events/promotions across the fundraising portfolio. To create and maintain a strong stewardship programme across all ages and income streams not only for giving but also for promoting the services and work of St Christopher s. Trading 7. Overtime the establishment of St Christopher s Shops throughout the Borough will be key to the long-term sustainable income that will subsidise the care provided across the Borough. The special projects fundraiser will work with the Director of trading to find and establish premises that deliver a new model of engagement and experience in the community. The new shops will afford space for a heightened retail experience as well as spaces that can support consultation/clinical activities as is appropriate. These physical presences of the St Christopher s within Lewisham will also provide key points of information dissemination amongst the borough diverse communities. Similarly, from these bases Fundraising and support will be sort and coordinated again with a view toward the communities engaging and becoming self-sustaining. Financial Planning and Budget Management 8. Produce cost-effective budgets to achieve action plans. Develop and maintain income and expenditure tracking and evaluation systems

3 Additional Responsibilities 9. Compile information for internal and external reports or presentations. 10. Ensure the fundraising team s systems and procedures are kept up-to-date. 11. Deal with telephone calls sensitively and initiate follow-up action as necessary. 12. Greet visitors/donors and deal with any queries appropriately and sympathetically. 13. Liaise with volunteers and supporters to fulfil any requirements they may have for administrative support. 14. Any other duties specified to ensure the smooth running of the department and fundraising. Safeguarding/MCA and DoLS Staff are required to take responsibility in all areas of work for safeguarding people at risk (both adults and children) from any form of abuse or neglect. When delivering care and support, staff are required to comply with the requirements of legislation relating to care in the UK, including the Care Act (2014), and Mental Health Capacity Act 2005, which incorporates the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). In order to achieve this, all staff are required to read St. Christopher s Safeguarding Policy and Procedure and to participate in both regular training and training updates and to incorporate preventative strategies into their work, as applicable. To maintain professional registrations (where applicable) and to keep up to date with mandatory training and other training requirements within own area of specialism/responsibility.
