There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. Almost two thirds have a disability and one third rely on others for help, making stroke one of the biggest causes of disability. We are continually working to improve the lives of stroke survivors and their families who deserve the very best treatment and care. We deliver amazing, life-changing support to over 60,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. We also fund research to find better treatments, campaign for better stroke care and help people understand how to spot and prevent stroke. This work is made possible by more than 4,000 talented volunteers and staff, our fantastic supporters and our strong relationships with the stroke clinical and research community. Directorate Our Fundraising Directorate plays a key role in securing two thirds of the income of the Stroke Association which funds our Research programmes, our campaigns and helpline support and underpins our Services supporting stroke survivors. It also covers the core costs of running the Association. Last year we raised 25.5m from individuals, companies, trusts and foundations, and community organisations and we have specialist teams responsible for our wide range of fundraising disciplines - Legacies, Direct Marketing, Community & Events Fundraising, Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy as well as a Development team which supports and improves our ability to raise money. Join us and help to achieve a world free of stroke. Purpose of role Every Stroke Association role is designed to contribute towards achieving our strategic ambitions. The particular focus of this role is to help us to achieve Ambition 6: Building the foundations for long-term growth. The Head of Events Fundraising is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the new national Events Fundraising Team. The team and this brand new role has been devised to drive a step change in supporter numbers and sustainable net income growth The Head of Events Fundraising will lead on the creation, development and delivery of the Events Fundraising Team strategy, plans and budgets. Within the current portfolio is the Resolution Run series, Step out for Stroke and Escape the City Bike Ride as well as the Virgin Money London Marathon and Great North Run. In addition, you and your team will support regional teams to maximise opportunities within their local events. Key responsibilities of role Responsibility areas Performance Indicators Key Competencies To be accountable for setting and achieving annual Events Budgets Leadership, Managing and Events income budgets and KPI targets whilst contributing to broader departmental and KPIs for events and also overall contribution to Developing performance

3 organisational KPIs as agreed with Director of Regional Fundraising. To lead the team to create the building blocks, Processes and systems for the new Events Fundraising team To lead on the creation, testing and evaluation of the owned and large third party events to ensure that these events deliver sustainable and scalable growth. To lead on strategies and techniques to support individuals and groups of the Events fundraising portfolio to ensure Life Time Value and retention of these supporters. To develop robust annual Events fundraising budgets and plans, forecasts, KPIs and monitoring and evaluation systems to support and deliver performance. Acquisition and Retention figures of Events supporters through Digital and Social Media Channels Business Acumen, customer focus, managing and developing performance, continuous improvement and innovation To work with others to develop and build relevant supporter journeys for Events fundraisers which are supported by Insight to drive significant growth in the numbers of Events fundraising supporters. 7 Person specification Education Degree or equivalent plus demonstrable professional experience. Experience working within the Events Fundraising Charity sector. Experience of delivering bespoke fundraising events with multiple thousands of participants.
