Friday, December 4, 2015 More than 65,000 spectators line State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara each year, in anticipation of Santa Barbara s only nighttime parade, the 63 rd Annual Downtown Santa Barbara Holiday Parade. Officially kicking off the holiday season, this signature Downtown Santa Barbara event brings a colossal contingent of high-stepping marching bands, fabulous holiday-themed floats, spectacular performance groups, local personalities and a celebrity Grand Marshal. The Holiday Prince and Fairy, selected from winning artwork best capturing the parade theme, lead the parade and light the large community Christmas tree on their way. Of course, the most highly anticipated appearance of the evening is none other than Santa Claus himself. 5 1 ST THURSDAY SERIES January-December 2016 (12 events total) Downtown Santa Barbara comes alive the first Thursday of each month, with the award-winning art walk event series, 1 st Thursday. Passports in hand, art-lovers of all types meander on a self-guided tour of galleries, shops, museums, even restaurants, all staying open a bit later with cultural experiences or talent to enhance the evening. Now in its ninth year, 1 st Thursday is as strong as ever, celebrating the vitality of our downtown with an ever-changing event full of diversity, culture and great times. With between participating businesses and an audience estimated at each month, 1st Thursday offers sponsors monthly exposure as well as business-to-business networking. The 1 st Thursday Passport, used as a guide by attendees, is an attractive roadmap loaded with a photo and information about each venue s exhibition or activities. This 1 st Thursday Passport serves as a primary fulfillment piece for our sponsors and venue participants, with more than 13,500 printed Passports broadly distributed throughout the year. Heating up (and extending) the evening is the newly created 1 st Thursday: After Hours, in partnership with the Historic Theatre District. Alternating between the Lobero Theatre, the Granada Theatre, the Arlington and the New Vic, 1 st Thursday: After Hours offers exciting new ways to access Downtown Santa Barbara s performing arts after dark. 1 st Thursday is promoted each month with a full page ad in that day s Santa Barbara Independent, the preceding Friday s CASA Magazine, on the Downtown Santa Barbara website, through Downtown Santa Barbara social media outlets and in a monthly press release- all including sponsor recognition. 7 DOWNTOWN ART & WINE TOUR Thursday, May 26, 2016* We are bringing back this popular fundraiser, the Downtown Art & Wine Tour, featuring a dozen local venues hosting cultural events, with tour participants enjoying an amazing food & wine sampling experience throughout downtown Santa Barbara. This original artwalk with wine event has brought art, food and wine lovers together for more than a decade, with an After Party that brings all patrons and sponsors together to end the evening. Local tasting rooms are paired with downtown businesses and local cultural or musical talent designed to entertain and showcase the vitality that is Downtown Santa Barbara. 9 Blues Cruise Chili Cook-Off Saturday, May 14, 2016 Every year, the State Street Nationals Car Show brings hundreds of antique and classic cars to State Street for one of California s biggest street car shows, attracting an estimated 30,000 people annually. This popular event is expanding to include a Saturday event showcasing Downtown Santa Barbara s diverse restaurants, vying for cash prizes and best chili, while enjoying an evening cruise of antique and classic cars and some of the best Blues music around. The Blues Cruise Chili Cook-Off offers patrons tickets for sale to attend and sample chili from participating restaurants, including voting for People s Choice. 10 March 2017 New Health & Wellness Festival In March 2017, Downtown Santa Barbara will come alive with a new celebration of the mind, body, and soul. This proposed five-day festival will be centered around a dual theme of health and wellness. This new festival will inspire, inform and re-energize attendees in Santa Barbara s beautiful setting, while showcasing innovation, best practices and creative expression about life lived in the center. Held in multiple venues across multiple days, this soulful celebration will showcase Santa Barbara as the ultimate retreat for the soul. This new Health & Wellness Festival (Name/Brand TBD) offers a wide range of programming and marketing opportunities throughout the community for sponsors and program partners who value health and wellness as part of their core business and corporate values, and want to associate their space with this new major Health & Wellness Festival.
