1 MARKETING ASSISTANT POSITION DESCRIPTION Position Title: Responsible To: Council Program: Marketing Assistant Manager Marketing Innovation & Commercial Businesses Marketing & Communications Classification Level: Salaried, Level 3 Overview of Program The Marketing & Communications Program will help Council to deliver services to the city that enhance our liveability, improve prosperity and stimulate economic growth by communicating to the benefits of being a Smart, Green, Liveable and Creative city. The Marketing & Communications Program will also deliver an authentic and highly effective marketing and brand strategy that improves the City s brand, reputation and experience for the benefit of our ratepayers, city users and the wider community. Key Relationships / Interactions Internal External Staff members across the Marketing & Communications program City of Adelaide staff members across all portfolios and programs Relevant industry bodies External consultants and service providers Public and private sector counterparts

2 Primary Purpose Responsibilities As part of the Marketing & Communications Team the Marketing Assistant will; Coordinate and implement a range of marketing and communication activities. Provide day to day marketing advice across a range of stakeholders including internal and external business partners and agencies. Play a supporting role in actioning the communications strategy and action plan. The Marketing Assistant is responsible for; Working collaboratively across the Marketing & Communications Program to undertake day to day marketing tasks including: media planning and buying, and coordinating marketing projects and activities as requested. Support Content and Design Team members by assisting with the development of marketing communications and collateral. Assist with the sourcing of images, production of art work and print production. Establish tracking and monitoring systems for marketing campaigns and online activities. Working collaboratively to coordinate and implement communications/marketing initiatives to plan, within agreed timeframes, quality and budget. Assist in planning, monitoring and reporting progress against business and organisational outcomes. Developing clear and concise briefs to internal and external service providers in-line with business requirements. Keeping abreast of innovative marketing and communication practices, customer experience trends and motivators to change, to effectively provide advice to internal stakeholders. 4 Selection Criteria Candidates should ensure that their application clearly demonstrates their ability to meet the Criteria detailed below. Qualifications A tertiary qualification in Business Management, Marketing, Communication, Public Relations or related field and/or significant demonstrated experience in lieu of formal qualifications. Financial Skills & Acumen Ability to understand broad financial impacts within project scope. Desirable Technical Knowledge & Experience Project Management Innovation & Initiative Resource Management & Decision Making Professional Development Customer Commitment & Integrity Collaboration & Communication Demonstrated experience in planning and coordinating activities across a broad range of communication/marketing methods. Demonstrated experience in implementation and coordination of communication/marketing plans across multiple channels. Ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders to deliver marketing solutions. A knowledge of procedures and processes required to coordinate and implement marketing campaigns. Sound organisational skills and the ability to successfully manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain focus on attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to plan and operate efficiently under pressure. Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and creatively and interpret data and other forms of information and strategic approaches. Demonstrated ability to apply new technology in marketing and communications. Ability to effectively utilise allocated resources including planning, prioritising own workloads and reporting on marketing campaigns and initiatives. Ability to exercise problem solving skills and be solutions focussed. Ability to prioritise and be flexible when responding to changing priorities and demands. A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning. A commitment to internal and external customers demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable advice on matters within area of responsibility. An understanding of practices, procedures and outcomes required of a records management system. Time management, organisational and prioritisation skills. Some out of hours work may be required in order to meet the requirement of the role. An unencumbered South Australian Drivers Licence may be required. A satisfactory Police Clearance may be required.
