(RAI), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is dedicated to preserving the core values of the former predominately African-American Rondo community and accurately interpreting the contributions of those residents to the City of St. Paul. The Rondo Community was a thriving community that helped to establish Minnesota s African American institutions, community values, and educational aspirations. Descendant luminaries from the Rondo community, pre I-94 era, such as: Marvin Roger Anderson and Floyd G. Smaller, Co-Founders of Rondo Avenue, Inc. and the Rondo Days Festival; Lisa Lissamore, Deputy Director, Minnesota Athletic Association; Dave Winfield, Major League Baseball Hall of Fame; Debra Montgomery, Retired St. Paul Police and St. Paul City Council Member are just a few of the constituents of the Rondo neighborhood that have contributed significantly and paved successful paths for many that can attribute their life s progressions to these pillars of the Rondo neighborhood. This community was displaced by the construction of Interstate I-94 in the late 1960 s. Every 3 rd weekend in July, for the past 32 years, RAI has sponsored the Rondo Days festival as a means to transmit the history and rich cultural traditions of the Old Rondo neighborhood and connect them with the new generations of an ever-evolving community. Over the years, the Rondo Days 5K Walk & Run, the Grande Parade, the Festival and the Dance/Drill Team Competition draws anywhere up to 30,000 plus spectators from a diverse background of cultures, ages, income brackets and localities. 65 percent of the funding for the festival is derived through private and corporate sponsorships, contributions and grants. As a sponsor of the July 16, 2016 Rondo Days Celebration, you will receive expansive media attention through the marketing and promotion efforts for the Rondo Days Celebration, that may also include the associated events and activities. Your business or organization will have the opportunity to infuse your brand into a massive audience. Enclosed you will find a Sponsorship Fact Sheet and detailed Sponsorship Proposal for your review. 3 SPONSORSHIP FACT SHEET WHAT: Rondo Senior Dinner, Frank Adams 5K Walk & Run, Rondo Days Grande Parade, Rondo Days Festival and the Rondo Days Dance Crew Competition. WHEN: Thursday through Saturday, July 14 through 16, 2016 WHERE: Various streets in the Rondo Community, the Rondo Education Center field & parking lot at 560 Concordia Ave in St. Paul and other venues. WHY: This is a time, every 3rd weekend in July, when members of the Rondo community and abroad can come together and celebrate the history of Rondo through entertainment, food & service vendors, social camaraderie, business relationships, historic education, youth activities and more. AUDIENCE: The highly anticipated Rondo Days Celebration draws up to 30,000 plus spectators and participants throughout the day. Although the audience is predominantly of African-American descent, each year RAI witnesses a more culturally diverse spectrum of visitors, vendors and participants.
