2 The Junior League of Chattanooga is proud to announce the second annual Jog-A-Nooga 5K on Saturday April 21, The Junior League believes in the importance of a healthy community and studies show that exercise can help kids focus and boost their cognitive performance. In this spirit, we challenge individuals from The Best Town Ever to walk, run, or jog while raising money for our A League of Learners initiative. We invite you to support the Junior League of Chattanooga by participating as one of our sponsors. One of the biggest advantages to becoming a Jog-A-Nooga sponsor is brand exposure to 250+ participants on race day and exposure to our over 400 active and sustaining members. Jog-A-Nooga will be advertised from February through April 21, 2018 allowing Junior League to showcase the race day sponsors. We have established a 360-marketing platform which includes a cutting-edge race website, local radio, illuminated Smart Wall for social media, live streaming events, local marketing via area businesses, athletic clubs and races, and buzz to participants and League members. 7 COMMUNITY IMPACT WOMEN BUILDING BETTER COMMUNITIES Junior League of Chattanooga educates and trains its members to provide effective volunteer service, to research challenging community needs, and to initiate pilot projects or expand services to meet those needs. It provides administrative, financial and volunteer support for projects and facilitates the permanent sponsorship of programs by other community organizations. Junior League is committed to supporting community projects and grants that address children, health, women, literacy and voluntarism as defined in our position statements. COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING A LEAGUE OF LEARNERS The Junior League of Chattanooga s A League of Learners initiative is focused on fostering lifelong learners in the Chattanooga community. Junior League supports Hamilton County s schools, teachers, children, and adults through funding for special projects and partnerships with other local organizations to provide an active volunteer base. In our first year of this initiative, we have chosen to sponsor East Lake Elementary, partnering with them to launch a fall festival, donate pajamas to each student for their Polar Express celebration, and assist with food distribution at their food pantry. KIDS IN THE KITCHEN The goal of this program is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices, to help combat childhood obesity, and its associated health risks. It is based on a nutritional initiative founded by the Association of Junior Leagues International and supported by its member Leagues. The initiative, which began in Chattanooga in 2006, engages children in the preparation of healthy meals and educates both children and their parents on nutrition and making healthy choices. MINI-GRANTS FOR TEACHERS Mini-Grants for Teachers is a program designed to provide funding for creative and effective teaching projects to educators in the Hamilton County public school system. The Junior League of Chattanooga remains committed to helping teachers provide exciting, challenging and rewarding learning experiences for their students. Any elementary, middle or high school teacher or team of teachers in the Hamilton County public school system is eligible to apply for a grant. In 2016 we received almost 100 grant requests from over 28 schools in Hamilton County. The Junior League of Chattanooga was fortunate to award 34 grants that year for a total of $21,
