2 POW! WOW! & the Community POW! WOW! Worcester is committed to making the City a more culturally dynamic place by activating spaces, engaging in the arts, and generating pride in the Downtown area. In Summer 2016, the group will host a marquee event in the New England region, helping to establish Worcester as a visitor destination. The ten day festival-style celebration slated to begin August 26, 2016, will appeal to a diverse audience and feature the curation of approximately 10 murals, artist panels, outdoor celebrations and other events developed to strengthen community engagement and regional tourism. The event is anticipated to bring over 10,000 new visitors to Worcester!

3 August 2016 Featured Events Opening Reception Featuring live music and the opportunity for the community to welcome internationally known muralists Mural Curation The completion of 10+ large scale murals that will beautify the downtown area Artist Talks Participating artists & local curators hosted at local cultural institutions and open to the community Community Art Project A collaboration between artists and local youth Annual Art-raiser Dinner and auction of artist-prepared pieces with proceeds going toward a local youth or city arts project Wrap-Up Reception A community block party featuring live performances, food trucks, painting, and exclusive merchandise to commemorate the event

Worcester has already raised nearly $20,000 to help develop a premier public art project that will: Bring visitors to the downtown footprint and Greater Worcester community Activate and beautify underutilized spaces throughout the City Increase the walkability across neighborhoods Provide spaces and resources for public art talks Engage community youth in a collaborative mural Create a truly unique event for the New England area!
