3 TEDxBrum 2017 will be taking place on Sunday 15th October at the iconic Birmingham Hippodrome, right at the heart of our city s vibrant arts quarter, to an audience of over 1800 people. The event will feature a full schedule of world-class speakers, artists and performers to cement Birmingham squarely on the map as a global leader in citizen-led change. Birmingham s very own platform for ideas worth spreading is entering its fifth iteration and we will once again be promoting the city s rich heritage, diverse citizenship and pioneering role in global social innovation. This year s TEDxBrum will be our most ambitious and provocative to date with a real focus on bringing together world-class ideas with a truly diverse and representative audience of Birmingham s citizens. In conjunction with the global TED brand, we will create the space for multi-faceted, deep and meaningful conversations where local citizens will be challenged and encouraged to carry the ideas forward, interact with new concepts and organisations, and push each other to be the best city we can be. With the provision of break-outspaces, workshops, and an unconference style networking event, TEDxBrum 2017 will be a beacon of positivity in current times, and a platform for those who want to go on and make change in our city. 3

5 The Theme Instead of saying one viewpoint is valid and another is invalid, we learn more about reality by sharing perspectives. Our perspectives affect all of our life experiences. They are the lens through which we see and interpret the world. Perspectives are interchangeable; individual; multiple. Previously perspectives and beliefs have been used to divide the human race; to rule us and embolden the leaders for whom power is the most important point of perspective. The false dichotomy created by wars in all guises, whether it s between religions, countries, or economic models, teaches us that we need to stand firm in our views, reject outside influence and be wary of people who hold different viewpoints. Last year at TEDxBrum we talked about harnessing the Power of Us to overcome the embedded polarisation of us and them, however just in the last year we have learned again how quickly rich, diverse and complex perspectives can be reduced to binary choices. We think the crucial challenge for society in the 21st Century is how we understand each other, relate to each other, and talk to each other, embracing many perspectives whilst challenging our own to expose new collective spaces where we can build a city to be proud of, together. Join us at Birmingham Hippodrome on Sunday 15th October 2017 for the biggest TEDxBrum yet, at a time where these conversations between many people feel more important than ever. 5

6 Last Year s Event TEDxBrum 2016, the #PowerofUs, was an open call to everybody who wants to discover and work towards ways in which we can build a better city. It successfully challenged citizens of Brum to break down the walls and connect across public, private and civic sectors. 8 Why Get Involved? TEDxBrum brings global talent and focus to Birmingham. It is an annual event showcasing the great ideas, innovation and impact citizens can have in their communities and beyond. In an events calendar crowded by events focused on (young) proffesionals TEDxBrum provides a dose of inspiration, representation and audacity that simply isn t found anywhere else in the city. As a partner of TEDxBrum you will placing your organisation and your team in a strong alliance with progressive and purpose-driven doers and thinkers in our city creating a strong platform for future collaborations and positive impact in Birmingham. You will be central in bringing together a truly diverse, engaged and interested audience for a unique and impactful experience which will alter the way many of these people approach the world in the future. TEDxBrum is a non-profit, volunteer run event the scale and experience of the event is only possible through the dedication of the local team and the generous, considered support of our sponsors and partners. This means we are very flexible in how we work with each partner and want to work together in way which leverages maximum value for both sides alongside maximum impact for our city. All of the previous TEDxBrum events have sold out, and we are anticipating a full 1800 capacity audience at Birmingham Hippodrome this year, with thousands more following along with the day via live stream. This is a unique opportunity to engage in an authentic dialogue with a valuable audience of passionate, open-minded people from across Birmingham. Partners get meaningful involvement in the event, from the opportunity to network to the possibility of hosting mini workshops and experiences on the day. 9 Sponsorship Packages TEDxBrum sponsors receive: Free passes to the main TEDxBrum event. A prominent feature on the day* and write up in the TEDxBrum programme given to all delegates and accessible online. Can contribute selected branded items to the delegate goodie bag. Your logo and details on the TEDxBrum website with a hyperlink to your own site. A creative area in Birmingham Hippodrome where you can deliver mini workshops and meet our delegates and other sponsors, with assistance from the TEDxBrum producers to develop an exciting offer. GOLD SPONSORS Sponsors committing 10,000 or more in sponsorship will enjoy a prominent presence at the event, and will be offered access to the premier spaces at the venue to network with delegates and partners, as well as the opportunity to deliver their own workshops. Gold sponsors will receive up to 10 free tickets and be given greater prominence in the programme and on the TEDxBrum website, on all marketing and press materials. SILVER SPONSORS Sponsors committing 5,000 in sponsorship will enjoy a significant presence and opportunity to network at the event, as well as a substantial feature in the programme, on the TEDxBrum website and on all marketing and press materials. Silver sponsors will receive up to 5 free tickets. BRONZE SPONSORS & EVENT CONTR IBUTORS Sponsors committing up to 1,000 in sponsorship will enjoy 5 tickets to the event, along with inclusion of their logo in the programme and on the TEDxBrum website. PARTNERS (SPONSORS IN KIND ) Sponsors giving TEDxBrum value in kind, in the form of equipment, supplies and services, will receive a billing as a TEDxBrum partner, and prominence at the event according to the monetary value of the sponsorship in kind. *Sponsors should note that while TED licensing prevents us placing your logo / banner permanently on the stage, it will be included on the VTs shown at the event, and in other areas around the venue. 9

Have A Stand On The Day Fill the Goodie Bags Free Brand/Kit out the event 1,000-5,000 Feed the People 1,000-15,000 We ll have close to 2000 people buzzing around the Hippodrome on the day. If you fancy showcasing your ideas and sharing your work with people then this is the one for you Every guest, speaker and performer will receive a goodie bag on the day why not share your information and products directly with the good people of Birmingham through contributing to the goodie bag? Tshirts, bags, balloons align yourself closely with the guest experience and become synonymous with all things TEDxBrum, with your logo featured prominently throughout the Hippodrome Nearly 2000 people will be coming to the hippodrome hungry for inspiration and lunch!
