2 The team behind Southampton s Seaside in the square GO! Southampton is the Business Improvement District (BID) for Southampton City Centre. The BID was set up in April 2017 and is funded and led by local business with the aim of implementing improvements in the city centre over a 5-year term. Part of this work involves animating the city with exciting events which will put Southampton on the map, attract visitors (old and new) and generate positive PR for the city. The BID is also working on initiatives which will enhance the overall experience of city centre users, such as pavement cleaning, art installations and a ranger programme. These improvements will help Southampton to reach its potential as a world class destination; something which will benefit visitors, residents and of course the businesses who are funding the BID.
