FAILURE TO DO SO MAY DISQUALIFY THE BIDDER THIS ADDENDUM CONSISTS OF 9 PAGES. CHANGES TO THE PROJECT MANUAL 3.01 SECTION SUPPLEMENTARY INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS: A. Paragraph 1.03.B Change paragraph to read as follows, All sealed bids will be received by 2:00 p.m. CDT on May 24, 2018 at which time each bidder must submit a sealed envelope properly titled containing two copies each of the Proposal form, and the Bid Bond. Bids will be held unopened until 3:00 p.m. CDT at which time each bidder must submit a sealed envelope properly titled containing one copy each of the Accounting of Sales Tax - ABC Form C-3A form, and List of Alternates (Section Supplement C). Upon receipt of these documents the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Supplement A List of Subcontractors (section ) is to be hand delivered or ed to the Architect within 24 hours after receipt of bids. No changes to the base bid will be allowed after 2:00 p.m SECTION SUMMARY: A. Paragraph 1.03.A: Attached herewith are the minutes and sign-in sheet of the Pre-Bid Conference held on May 9, SECTION ALLOWANCES: A. Add Paragraph 1.04.H to read as follows: H. Include the stipulated sum of $25, in the base bid for floor reinforcements if the existing concrete strength is less than 3,500 PSI, per drawings S-1.0 General Notes. If

(Abatement contractor will remove these ceilings) DRAWING A-1.4 FIRST FLOOR PLANS: A. Construction Notes: Note 12 Change note to read as follows, Install 5/8 inch gypsum board on 7/8 inch furring channels to deck where wood paneling has been removed (Type X at rated walls). B. (The owner has hired a consultant for this work) DRAWING P-1.0 PLUMBING SCHEDULES & LEGEND: A. Plumbing Fixture Schedule: Change description of P7 to read, Terrazzo shower basin and trap guard (tile and trim by others). END OF ADDENDUM NUMBER 3
3 Alabama A&M University Thigpen Hall Renovations PRE-BID CONFERENCE May 9, :00 am MINUTES Rob VanPeursem with Nola Van Peursem Architects introduced Pam Bruce also with Nola VanPeursem Architects, Jerry Latham and Vindetta Medlock with Alabama A&M and Tyce Hudson and Brandon Tucker with Turner Construction. A sign in sheet was passed around and is attached for the Contractor s use. Brandon Tucker with Turner Construction explained their role as Construction Managers. They will be the Owner s representatives and will help all members of the design and construction team achieve success. General Contractors & Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing contractors have been Pre-Qualified and the lists of approved contractors were issued in addendum #1. The Bid Date, Location and Procedures were discussed. The contractors were instructed to include all properly executed forms for Accounting of Sales Tax, Unit Prices, and Alternates. Do not qualify bids. The Project Funding Source is local. Sales tax is NOT to be included in the bid and the accounting of Sales Tax Form shall be included with the bid. Alternates were discussed and can be found in the Project Manual - See Section Allowances were discussed and can be found in the Project Manual- See Section The Contract Schedule was discussed. Work may begin after notice-to-proceed. Onsite work may begin after asbestos removal July 16 th and Substantial Completion is noted in section as April 30 th, There will be Liquidated Damages as Noted in Appendix C Supplementary Conditions of the Contract. Permit Requirements were discussed. The Alabama Building Commission has reviewed and approved the plans. The Alabama Building Commission will issue a Permit & Fees will be charged. No City of Huntsville building permit is required. The Huntsville Fire Marshall is reviewing the plans and addenda will be issued if changes are required. The following Contract Considerations were discussed- - Be aware of long lead-time items. - The E-Verify Program will be enforced. - See the Project Schedule Submission and Update Requirements Section The number of sets of prints to be turned over to the contractor after award of contract is to be five. CAD files of civil and architecture base floor plans are available for submittal purposes. It is the contractor s responsible to incorporate addenda items into the hard copy and any electronic files of the construction documents. - A full-time superintendent is required as noted in Section Specific finish materials and colors have been requested by owner/users. Substitutions for the finishes may be submitted for approval but must match exactly,
4 - Other substitutions must meet design intent, with burden of proof and coordination on the Contractor and his supplier to ensure that adequate space, clearance, and accessibility is available within the design for a properly functioning system. Any costs incurred by changes will be the Contractor s burden. See each spec section to confirm required Installer Qualifications - Subcontractors are required to be familiar with requirements of all documents, not just documents specific to their trade The following Site Conditions were discussed- - See the attached Logistics Plan for Work Limits. Fencing will be at the discretion of the contractor - The jobsite is on an active college campus and University activity must not be disturbed. Contractor shall work during hours as permitted by city ordinance. Other hours will require permission by the Owner. - Existing Electric and Water Utilities will be owner furnished - Be mindful of traffic control and keep roads clean. - Firearms and tobacco (including electronic and chewing) are strictly prohibited on campus. The following Up Coming Addenda were discussed- - Pre-bid meeting minutes and sign-in sheet - Detail of hall ACT cloud edge - Scheduling Consultant requirements - Delete 3 required core samples shown on Structural drawing S-2.1 (Owner has hired a testing agency to do this work) - Allowance for structural changes based on concrete strength results will either be removed if test shows appropriate strength or moved to Allowance section if needed. - The Bid Date is changing to May 24 th The following Questions were asked 1.) Should the contractor reuse the existing furring devices behind the removed wood paneling or include new furring channels between the CMU and new gypsum board wall finishes? Include new furring channels per Addendum #3 2.) Are the fire alarm devices in the basement only installed if Alternate #3 is accepted? This will be clarified by a future addendum. 3.) Are the terrazzo shower basins part of the plumbing contractors work requirements? Yes, the terrazzo shower basins are to be included in the contract. 4.) Will stainless steel handrails be required or will they be painted steel? All handrails shall be painted steel not stainless steel and will be noted in Addendum #3. 5.) Will the asbestos contactor be removing the ceilings in the Lobby area? The asbestos contractor will be removing the Lobby area ceilings. This will be noted in Addendum #3. 6.) Who will be responsible for removing the camera attached to the ceiling in the Lobby? The asbestos contractor will need to remove the camera on the Lobby ceiling and turn it over to the owner. 7.) Are the poles the data fiber is shown on across campus existing? Yes, the poles are existing. 8.) Where are the new Communication Rooms? The new Communication rooms are shown on the Electrical drawings. 9.) Is the VCT shown in the basement Stair part of the base bid? Yes, the stair finishes in the basement are part of the base bid. 10) The asbestos contractor will reinstall the existing light fixtures after asbestos removal.if Alternate #5 is not accepted. Construction progress schedule, bar chart type RELATED SECTIONS A. Section Summary: Work sequence REFERENCES A. AGC (CPSM) - Construction Planning and Scheduling Manual; B. M-H (CPM) - CPM in Construction Management - Project Management with CPM; O'Brien; SUBMITTALS A. Within 5 days after date established in Notice to Proceed, submit preliminary schedule.. B. If preliminary schedule requires revision after review, submit revised schedule within 5 days. C. Submit updated schedule every 30 days. D. Submit under transmittal letter form specified in Section QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Contractor shall furnish, at a minimum, a monthly, published update of the project schedule in CPM (Critical Path Method) format for review with the Owner, Architect and Construction Manager. Schedule shall designate the critical path in red and initial schedule shall publish target dates of activities to compare against for future published schedules. This work shall be performed within scheduling software that automatically updates the critical path. Schedule shall, include approximately 50 items but should not exceed 75 items of activity. Activities shall not exceed more than 20 working days in duration. Should an activity exceed the noted duration limit, activity should be divided based on areas to achieve the 20 working day duration. Should the critical path change as a result of a progress update, contractor shall provide written explanation of the cause for such a change to be agreed to by the Owner, Architect and the Construction Manager. B. Contractor's Administrative Personnel: Five years minimum experience in using and monitoring CPM schedules on comparable projects SCHEDULE FORMAT A. Listings: In chronological order according to the start date for each activity. Identify each activity with the applicable specification section number. B. Diagram Sheet Size: Maximum 24 x 36 inches or width required. C. Sheet Size: Multiples of 8-1/2 x 11 inches. D. Scale and Spacing: To allow for notations and revisions.

Prepare preliminary schedule in the form of a horizontal bar chart CONTENT A. Show complete sequence of construction by activity, with dates for beginning and completion of each element of construction. B. Identify each item by specification section number. C. Identify work of separate stages and other logically grouped activities. D. Provide sub-schedules for each stage of Work identified in Section E. Provide sub-schedules to define critical portions of the entire schedule. F. Include conferences and meetings in schedule. G. Show accumulated percentage of completion of each item, and total percentage of Work completed, as of the first day of each month. H. Coordinate content with schedule of values specified in Section I. Provide legend for symbols and abbreviations used BAR CHARTS A. Include a separate bar for each major portion of Work or operation. B. Identify the first work day of each week REVIEW AND EVALUATION OF SCHEDULE A. Participate in joint review and evaluation of schedule with Architect at each submittal. B. Evaluate project status to determine work behind schedule and work ahead of schedule. C. After review, revise as necessary as result of review, and resubmit within 10 days UPDATING SCHEDULE A. Maintain schedules to record actual start and finish dates of completed activities. B. Indicate progress of each activity to date of revision, with projected completion date of each activity. C. Update diagrams to graphically depict current status of Work. D. Identify activities modified since previous submittal, major changes in Work, and other identifiable changes. E. Indicate changes required to maintain Date of Final Completion. F. Submit reports required to support recommended changes. G. Provide narrative report to define problem areas, anticipated delays, and impact on the schedule. Report corrective action taken or proposed and its effect.
