On the basis of a catalog of 187 new technologies, both INTA and INAFOR continue providing agricultural and forestry services and innovations to approx. 39,000 producers around the country, including some of the most isolated indigenous communities in the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua. The results of the next annual survey on satisfaction of beneficiaries, adoption of new technologies, and increase of productivity amongst target groups would be available in August, The results of the survey and of the ongoing Impact Evaluation will be discussed during the next supervision mission, preliminary scheduled for mid-september, Field Page 1 of 7

2 activities of the Additional Financing (AF) to strengthen the National Seed System are now underway. INATEC, INTA, and MAGFOR are working with producers' organizations in the three target areas of the project and are completing the first ten Cooperative Development Plans (PDC) out of 32 PDC that are planned for the project. The first three Cooperatives are now completing documentation to apply to the credit line (Banco Produzcamos) during the current sowing season (Primera). 7 P TF Effective USD Disbursement Graph Key Decisions Regarding Implementation The original PTA-II operation financed by the Credit 4127 has executed 94 percent of the funds. The last request of reallocation of credit proceeds is being prepared to ensure full execution of project activities and of the Credit by December, Key tasks ahead include completing the PTA-II Impact Evaluation and preparing the Final Report of the project. A systematization of the main contributions of PTA-II would be prepared as part of the closing phase of the Credit. As for the AF, first activities with producers in Nueva Guinea, Boaco, Jinotega, and Tasba Pri, as well as preparation of a large amount of procurement processes indicate improvements in project implementation. However, speeding up disbursements remains the main issue. Over the next six months, the main activities of the AF will be to complete at least 10 PDCs, make the line of credit fully operational after two sowing seasons, and start improving equipment and facilities to provide services to seed producers.
