10 Objective 01 Groundwater Flow model. MODFLOW was adopted to simulate groundwater flow for specified pumping and recharge rates arranged in the Pingtung plain. 10

11 Objective 02 Water quality standards. Multivariate Indicator Kriging (MVIK) is used to spatially analyze groundwater quality in the Pingtung plain based on drinking, irrigation and aquaculture water quality standards. 11

12 Objective 03 Reduce the use of groundwater in Pingtung plain. To prevent decrease of ground water tables, land subsidence and sea water intrusion. 12

16 Study area Pingtung plain This elongated plain covers an area of 1210 km 2 The flat area of the catchments of the Kaoping, Tungkang and Linpeing rivers. The rainy seasons last from May to September. The maximum average rainfall is 3146 mm. 16
