Our visin is t encurage, prmte and prvide educatinal pprtunities pertaining t a diverse variety f sustainability tpics, t becme a netwrking and infrmatin-sharing hub, and t make sustainability an accepted cre value n the Irn Range. Irn Range Earth Fest At Irn Range Earth Fest, the signature event f IRPS, we seek answers t the questin; hw can we meet the needs f the present withut cmprmising the ability f future generatins t meet their needs? Earth Fest is a celebratin f lcal traditins and practical resurces fr sustainable living n the Irn Range, ffering pprtunities t explre hw we can all live mre sustainably in ur hmes and cmmunities, ur ecnmy and ur envirnment. Participants are invited t learn abut new and existing technlgical appraches as well as rediscver sme f ur lng standing lcal traditins. We tap int the knwledge f cutting edge experts as well as ur lcal indigenus knwledge thrugh exhibits, demnstratins, speakers and vendrs. Emphasis is placed n lcal prducts, lcal services, lcal fds, lcal traditins and ur lcal wilderness. The 3nd annual Irn Range Earth Fest is n April 9, 2011 in Muntain Irn, MN and is presented by the Irn Range Partnership fr Sustainability, the Nrtheast Minnesta Sustainable Develpment Partnership with the University f Minnesta and Irn Range Resurces. Earth Fest Green Inventrs Cntest The Green Inventrs Cntest is an pprtunity fr Irn Range yuth and adults t shw ff their imaginatins and creativity, and receive recgnitin and awards fr their "green" inventins designed t slve a sustainability prblem r make smething mre envirnmentally friendly. The 2nd annual Earth Fest Green Inventrs Cntest is n April 9, 2011 at the Mt Irn Merritt Elementary Schl, during Irn Range Earth Fest.

3 Green Inventr s Cntest In-ven-t-ing (dfn): identifying a need and devising a slutin Develp a green inventin that culd be new r culd imprve a current prduct/design. This inventin shuld slve a sustainability prblem r culd make smething mre envirnmentally friendly. Cmpetitin Expectatins: Yur inventin shuld fllw the theme f green innvatin - making the Earth, ur cmmunity r the ecnmy mre sustainable (see the IRPS definitin f sustainability in the attached Earth Fest brchure). Inventrs under 18 shuld enter the Schl Age Divisin. Over 18 shuld enter the Open Divisin. Inventins may be develped and entered fr cmpetitin by a single persn r a pairing. All entries must be riginal, the sle wrk f the entrant(s) and shuld nt be the wrk f smene else (including parents/guardians). All entries must have an entry frm pstmarked n/befre March 21, Entry frms can be mailed r ed (addresses are lcated n the bttm f the entry frm). All entries must have an infrmatinal pster fr the inventin AND a small-scale mdel f the inventin, OR a prttype f the actual inventin. Entries will be judged n the fllwing criteria: Creativity Originality Practicality f the inventin Value/Benefit f the inventin Clarity f pster (infrmatin) Quality f mdel/replica All entries must be presented at the Earth Day Celebratin (April 9, 2011) by the entrant(s) fr judging. Judging will ccur n Saturday, April 9 frm 10:00 AM t nn. If there is a scheduling cnflict, the entrant(s) can pt t create fur index cards with ne trivia questin/answer n each card. These trivia cards must accmpany the pster and replica/prttype. Prizes will be awarded fr the tp three places in the Schl Age Divisin fr each grade categry (4-6; 7-8; 9-12) The tp tw winners in the Open Divisin will each receive a FREE registratin in the "Build a Business...Here's Hw!" Prgram, cmpliments f the Nrtheast Entrepreneur Fund. ($149 value) All entries (psters/mdels/replicas) must be set up by 9:00 a.m. and picked up after 4:00 p.m. n April 9th at Merritt Elementary Schl. Drs will clse at 5 PM.
