2 Dear Colleague We are delighted to present this programme for our ninth Conference. Our Industry has continued to live in the limelight of the banks, making fewer headlines but being judged by the same standards. Solvency II has now been operational for over a year, and firms have become used to the new quarterly reporting requirements, with annual reports due to be finalised in May 2017 for the first time. The initial rush for internal model approval has slowed, but firms continue to assess the benefit of having an internal model to help set their capital, particularly for classes of business that the Standard Formula penalises. It s far too early to say yet what impact BREXIT will have on prudential regulation, but fears exist that letting the PRA off the leash will lead to even higher demands than exist today. With the significant efforts made across firms, customers experience of dealing with our firms should be improving, and there is evidence that the regulator is working more collaboratively with industry to get things right, rather than just punishing for realised failings. Our companies now comply with most of the requirements of the FS code that was introduced in 2013 and, as it is reviewed, we consider further refining the approach and honing the skills we need to be effective assurance professionals. We will bring together a range of speakers to talk about developments in our profession, and in our industry, and provide plenty of opportunities for delegates to mull over and challenge the ideas presented. We are pleased that our Conference will once again be joined by speakers and facilitators who are experts in their field and who will help us to examine these topics and build on the foundations for determining refined strategies for providing effective assurance in our organisations.
