2 Waterloo Formula Electric Dear Prospective Sponsor, We are writing in hope of your support and sponsorship for Waterloo Formula Electric (WFE). We are a student-run engineering design team based out of the University of Waterloo. We are group of 30 core members we have now grown to over 80 additional members who work together every year on developing an electric racecar to compete in an international competition, Formula SAE Electric. We are University students from a diverse range of faculties in and outside of engineering and we each play our part in running this organization and ultimately, developing the fastest racecar. Through the internship program at Waterloo, our team has been able to gain diverse learning opportunities from around the world creating a unique set of talents and skills, creating the hallmark of innovation. Although we are a fairly young team, the relentless ambition of our members has produced a history marked with numerous awards, technical breakthroughs, and rich learning opportunities. Having just returned from our 2017 competition at FSAE Lincoln, we are eager to begin the design process for our 2018 vehicle. As such, we are hoping that you would be interested in sponsoring our team as we embark on our second-generation electric vehicle. Your sponsorship would allow for our team to provide opportunities for all future students to develop skills that will be beneficial for their engineering careers in the future. 4 What is Formula SAE? The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) hosts an international engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students. The competition provides participants with the opportunity to enhance their engineering design and project management skills by applying learned classroom theories in a challenging competition. Formula SAE Electric is held every June in Lincoln, Nebraska. The static events include design evaluation and cost evaluation, while the dynamic events include endurance, autocross, skid-pad and acceleration tests. These challenges allow students to develop essential engineering and leadership skills, guiding their growth to become the leaders of tomorrow s automotive industry.

5 Team Members in the Workforce Beyond the classroom lies the real world. The University of Waterloo recognizes the importance of the workplace and has developed the largest internship (co-op) program in the world! Our members understand the importance of the learning experiences provided through SAE and so does the industry. A multitude of companies from around the world and in various industries have handpicked members of our team to fill vital roles during their co-op terms and after graduation.
