1 Job Description Press Officer London Creative Network Employer SPACE (Arts Service Grants Ltd) FTE 0.4 Hours of Work Two days per week (work days and times may include some unsocial hours TOIL given) Salary 30,000-35,000 per annum pro rata depending on experience Appointment term Fixed term contract to July 2018 Context of role: SPACE is a radical and innovative visual arts organisation putting art and creativity at the heart of everything we do. This is a new fixed-term post to join the team leading London Creative Network (LCN), a programme supported by the European Regional Development Fund. LCN is a tailored development programme for artists and creative practitioners in London. Delivered by SPACE, with Cockpit Arts, Four Corners and Photofusion, it runs from Spring 2016 to Autumn The programme is delivered by a consortium of four organisations: Four Corners, Cockpit Arts, Photofusion & SPACE. The Press Officer will be responsible for creating dynamic and engaging press campaigns for the London Creative Network. This post is part-funded by the European Union. 2 Specific Responsibilities: Devise and implement proactive press strategies for London Creative Network to ensure maximum quality coverage across a range of media. Project manage several campaigns with different timelines and issues concurrently, meeting deadlines effectively. Write press releases and other press material and distribute them. Work closely with the Communications Manager and LCN Coordinator to ensure maximum impact for communications campaigns. Handling enquiries for information. Generating/developing/maintaining effective relationships with key media To undertake any other duties associated with the London Creative Network programme as required by the CEO, Programme Director and LCN Programme Manager. Key Specific Tasks Business Objective Responsibilities Devise and implement proactive press strategies for London Creative Network to ensure maximum quality coverage across a range of media Project manage several campaigns with different timelines and issues concurrently, meeting deadlines effectively Write press releases and other press material and oversee distribution

3 Work closely with the Communications Manager and LCN Coordinator to ensure maximum impact for communications campaigns Handling enquiries for information Generating/developing/maintaini ng effective relationships with key media General Responsibilities: To undertake duties pro-actively and work in accordance with SPACE policies, aims and objectives To undertake duties with an awareness of the need to promote cost effective and efficient management, taking into account your post requirements and company finance as a whole To maintain confidentiality agreements and to conduct yourself in a professional manner during the course of your duties. To demonstrate a willingness to undertake training as required for the development of the post and enhancement of the company s skill base. To engage with staff and clients of SPACE in a positive and constructive manner To attend staff and other SPACE meetings. Some meetings and training may be held outside of normal office hours, including occasional evening and weekend activities, repaid through TOIL. To act in accordance with the Equal Opportunities policy and to contribute to and implement the SPACE cultural diversity strategy.

4 Person Specification Experience: Demonstrable knowledge of and interest in the Arts/cultural sector. Proven experience of relevant press and media work or public relations and working as a Press Officer. Evidence of devising proactive press campaigns and achieving positive press coverage. A good network of media contacts. Excellent organisation, planning and problem solving skills. A self-motivator with the ability to generate ideas and stimulate discussion both internally and externally. Ability to think quickly and to command the respect and authority of the press. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong verbal/ writing ability and experience of writing press releases. Proven ability to work flexibly and to manage a number of varying projects simultaneously deliver on time. Strong ability to prioritise and be flexible with workloads Skills: Excellent written and spoken English. Excellent interpersonal skills, persuasive and resilient. Good administrative skills supported by basic ICT skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel) Systematic and methodical Excellent interpersonal skills

5 Essential Desirable Educated to degree level or have strong relevant experience in a similar role Prior experience in working for an arts organisation Demonstrable knowledge of and interest in the Arts/cultural sector. Experience of doing this in a similar arts organisation Experience of creating and implementing press strategies and campaigns Working knowledge of social media platforms and online event booking systems Experiencing of writing press releases and other press material, distribution of them Experience of working alongside Communications colleges to implement a communications strategy Experience (demonstrable) of Generating/developing/maintaining effective relationships with key media Ability to word process, create and maintain spread-sheets and use database programs to a good standard
