1 Senior Public Job Description JOB TITLE PAY BAND WORK PROGRAMME BASE RESPONSIBLE/ACCOUNTABLE TO SUMMARY Senior Public Modified Band 6 (points WTE) Fixed term 18 month contract (with possibility of extension) Public Wellbeing Winterley Grange, Sandbach (with regular travel to settings across Cheshire East and Cheshire West) Head of Public Wellbeing, The End of Life Partnership The post holder will support the Head of Public Wellbeing with the operational management of the Public Health and Wellbeing (PH&WB) Programme. The post-holder will also hold a portfolio of projects and work with the public and anyone who works with the public, to inspire, enable and empower individuals to think about, talk about and take action in relation to life, age, death and loss. 2 Key Responsibilities: Project and Operational Management To support the Head of Public Wellbeing with the operational management of the Public Wellbeing (PH&WB) Programme and delivery of operational targets/objectives To work with the Head of Public Wellbeing to ensure activity is monitored, evaluated and reviewed and action is taken to address under- and over-performance within the Programme To support the Head of Public Wellbeing with the development of guidelines and protocols for operational delivery of the PH&WB Programme, as appropriate To develop, implement and manage identified PH&WB Programme Projects, working with internal EoLP staff and external partners, as appropriate To exhibit effective decision making skills, within an overall framework set by the Head of Public Wellbeing To hold a portfolio of work areas / projects including but not limited to: - Development and implementation of effective Public, Workforce (Brief Intervention) and Volunteer/Champion Sessions for the PH&WB Programme, in line with appropriate current research and frameworks - Pro-active identification and enablement of opportunities for engagement and session delivery with diverse and wide-ranging audiences, including less frequently heard groups, in line with the PH&WB Programme and wider EoLP Organisational Priorities - Recruitment, co-ordination and management of Volunteers and Community Champions - Project management of identified PH&WB Programme Engagement Events - Provision of regular status and performance reports to the Head of Public Wellbeing including progress against milestones and objectives as identified in Individual Service Delivery Plan/s (ISDP) Communications, Marketing and Resource Development To support the Head of Public Wellbeing to oversee the production and distribution of public-facing promotional materials and literature (including web-site content) to support the social marketing campaigns of the PH&WB Programme To support the Head of Public Wellbeing to ensure use of effective and creative communications by the PH&WB Programme team (using a variety of communications tools (including the press and social media), between the programme and internal EoLP staff, external partners and the public To develop relationships with the press and media to support the communication of PH&WB Programme activity and as required, the wider activity of the organisation To develop tailored and bespoke resources, promotional materials and literature for a variety of audiences to communicate the messages of the PH&WB Programme To provide support and mentorship to members of the PH&WB Programme Team, EoLP Staff, Community Champions and Volunteers, to effectively communicate the messages of the programme To support the development and on-going delivery of the Communications Strategy for the Programme and as required, the wider Communications Strategy for the organisation, The EoLP W:\Job Descriptions & Rationales\SPHWB Worker JD & PS Combined 2015.docx 2

3 Organisational Development and Partnership Working To support the Head of Public Wellbeing with the operational management of Cheshire Living Well, Dying Well Partnership meetings, consultations and related activity To develop effective working relationships with a wide range of partner organisations to ensure co-ordinated action To represent the Programme and EoLP on a variety of local, regional and national platforms, as required To support communities and partners to identify assets, needs and gaps in capacity and to develop viable community solutions and projects To inspire participation and involvement in the work of the PH&WB programme To stimulate and enable community-led and partner-led activity in relation to the aims of the PH&WB programme Other Responsibilities To monitor key information sources (web-sites, journals, etc.) to keep abreast of prime developments relevant to the PH&WB Programme and the wider organisation, EoLP To participate in EoLP performance appraisal systems and agreement of an Individual Service Delivery Plans (ISDP) To be aware of and work in line with EoLP s Equal Opportunities Policy and to treat all contacts, team members and clients, with dignity and respect To be operationally aware, spending time with key specialty team members from across the organisation To take an active role in self-development, objectively reviewing performance and identifying and addressing personal development needs To undertake personal training and education commensurate with the post and attend committees/forums/groups and conferences as required The End of Life Partnership (EoLP) is committed to ensuring that it meets its obligations to comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 and related guidance, and Standards of Confidentiality and Information Security, around the handling, storing and distributing of confidential, personal and/or sensitive information. The Post Holder is required to follow Information Governance (IG) standards set to protect confidential, personal and/or sensitive information handled as well as protecting the privacy of anyone included within the information. The Post Holder is required to complete annual information governance training and report any concerns/ breaches of IG standards directly to the IG Lead and their Line Manager All staff have a duty to ensure the safety of themselves and others whilst at work. Safe working practices and health and safety precautions are a legal requirement. ALL accidents must be reported to the line manager and in line with the general philosophy of the organisation, must participate in accident prevention by reporting hazards and following policies and procedures including Moving and Handling guidelines.
