1 Job Description - Workforce Development Facilitator Purpose of the post Alzheimer Scotland is the leading provider of dementia specialist care in Scotland. We invest in, and rely on, our workforce to maintain and build on our specialism ensuring that their dementia knowledge and practice reflects our mission of making sure nobody faces dementia alone. This key role within the Quality and Workforce Development (QWD) Team is responsible for designing and delivering learning and development programmes for our workforce and for showcasing best dementia care practice both in Alzheimer Scotland and beyond. This includes classroom based programmes, thematic workshops and digital learning. Key tasks 1 Develop and deliver high quality learning experiences for Alzheimer Scotland s workforce 2 Deliver the Promoting Excellence strategy across the organisation, including travel throughout Scotland 3 Deliver and review induction for staff across Alzheimer Scotland 4 Facilitate a range of workforce development opportunities including thematic workshops and digital learning 5 Monitor and evaluate training input and learning outcomes to ensure training inputs are relevant, effective and consistent with best practice 6 Support the workforce to engage with and complete personal learning plans and provide guidance on best practice 7 Support the workforce to meet statutory and professional registration learning and competence standards 8 Reflect the lived experience of dementia throughout the design and delivery of workforce development programmes and events 9 Champion workforce development to build a culture of continuous learning and improvement

2 10 Engage with colleagues in localities and teams to ensure workforce development programmes and events reflect needs and opportunities across Alzheimer Scotland 11 Engage with external agencies that can contribute to the development of our workforce, monitoring the quality and relevance of their training inputs 12 Contribute to team planning, reviews of programmes and learn from feedback about what works and what needs to change to inform improvement 13 Any other reasonable request within the scope of the role. Skills and attributes The ideal post holder will be motivated to identify and drive their own learning, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of developments in dementia research, policy development and care. They will have excellent facilitation skills, demonstrating an ability to translate current developments in dementia into engaging learning for a diverse workforce. Knowing the audience and the challenges they face in their practice settings and being flexible in delivery are key. Maintaining engagement with networks that support innovation in dementia will be a key strength the post holder will bring, ensuring that the breadth of knowledge in these networks benefits our workforce and enhances its dementia knowledge and practice. They will be a team player, contributing to innovation, planning and change with colleagues in QWD and beyond. They will bring creativity to the role; using engaging methods and approaches and demonstrating confidence in their facilitation and delivery. Critical to the success of this role is being connected to the lived experience of dementia so building relationships with groups and networks that reflect the voice of people living with dementia and their families/carers is crucial.

3 Accountability The post is accountable to the Learning Manager. Salary: The post is graded at points The post holder will be subject to a Disclosure Scotland check. This job description is open to review by the organisation at any time and was last revised in May 2018.

Skills, ability, knowledge Excellent facilitation skills Good organisational skills Excellent engagement, communication and interpersonal skills Able to learn quickly, adapt and be flexible Digitally confident Able to create learning materials and use multi-media Able to produce written reports for a range of audiences Qualifications/experience Experience of designing and delivering programmes or events Essential Desirable Recognised professional qualification to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 Recognised qualification in dementia care Experience of training design and delivery Knowledge of dementia Full driving license and access to a vehicle during work time Experience of the charity or health & social care sector
