01 Looking back over the shoulder: Handling the challenge of boosting capacity without enlarging space 3
Tino Klemm IAPH - THE 30TH WORLD PORTS CONFERENCE The Port of Hamburg: a tidal port at the heart of a big city Our challenge: limited area 4 4
Tino Klemm IAPH - THE 30TH WORLD PORTS CONFERENCE smartport consists of various intelligent solutions to increase the ports efficiency and address our challenges preport parking SHIPPING COMPANY RAIL DATA GATE CONTAINERTERMINAL VIRTUAL DEPOT TRADITIONAL CONTAINER DEPOT 5
Higher capacities are welcomed while keeping the focus on environment and safety Less pollution with alternative energy provision to cruise ships More safety for Hamburg PORTprotect LNG power Barge Onshore power supply for cruise ships 6
02 Looking forward: the Port 4.0. Shaping the digital transformation in ports 7
The digital revolution has already put many business models to the test... From Taxi to UBER 8
Tino Klemm IAPH - THE 30TH WORLD PORTS CONFERENCE or has made some other completely disappear from the market. From the old good corner bookshop to AMAZON 9
This trend sets a course throughout all sectors There are no sectors that are "protected" or "inviolable"! Innovative companies are continuously disrupting their business 10
How about the port sector? Are ports able to disrupt their own business? 11
Where is the port business standing at the moment? Just an example The container was the last relevant, disruptive invention in the logistics and port segment 12
And here is another example To get a quotation for transport, a customer currently has to wait up to three days. To book a container, as many as 12 to 14 coordination stages are required by , telephone and fax as an industry average" Ferry Heilemann, Founder of Freighthub 13
However, things are changing: several start-ups already move data in real-time What s next? A global market place for port services! 14
Moreover, actors from outside the port business are entering the maritime sector 15
Outlook: how new digital solutions can be implemented in our daily work New visualization forms for better data analysis & infrastructure planning With the further development of virtual and augmented reality, we encounter new visualization possibilities. Against the emergence of the Industry 4.0 and IoT such instruments are essential in handling huge data sets and enabling a better planning of large infrastructure projects. Visualizing the vessel traffic in the Port of Hamburg through augmented reality 16
The HPA implemented a modern Harbour Master s Division à through augmented reality processes can become even more efficient 17
It is time for smart ports to go beyond local borders and connect internationally Being a smart port locally is only half of the story! 18
03 chainport: Taking the smartport concept one step further From a port-to-port to a door-to-door approach 19
Digital supply chain: sharing data and information between relevant stakeholders in the global maritime supply chain Customer need: We are not interested in port-to-port but in door-to-door transit time! Filip DeGrote, Transportation Director für EMEA von Black & Decker Role of the Port Authority as trusted and honest broker 20
chainport: We aim for more collaboration and knowledge exchange among the ports Working group smart IT solutions, CIO Network Exchange and learn from best practice solutions of other ports to increase transparency and efficiency of the supply chain Working group Supersize me Implications and solutions for ULCV How big is big enough?? Working group Port Acadamy Working group Shaping the digital change in Port Authorities: People & Processes Build up a network of digital change experts for ports and systemize different digital change approaches. Develop a training scheme aiming at fostering the advanced training and exchange of personnel Port Acadamy HPA, June

Vision für chainport Collaborate and cooperate as smart ports to improve coordination in the global maritime (container) logistics chain on behalf of its stakeholders 23
BLUEPRINT FOR THE DIGITAL SEAPORT PUBLISHED Digitalization of seaports Visions of the future In order to explore possible future developments and to stimulate debate among stakeholders, Fraunhofer CML and Hamburg Port Authority have jointly published a book which sets out a blueprint for the ports industry in the digital age. 24
This is what Port 4.0. and the concept of chainport means for us: 25
