2 Nel Levitz Student Satisfactin Inventry Executive Summary Spring 2008 In spring 2008, Austin Cmmunity Cllege administered the Nel-Levitz Student Satisfactin Inventry (SSI) t determine what aspects f cllege life matter mst t students and hw satisfied students are with them. The SSI assessed the imprtance that students place n and their satisfactin with Academic Advising Effectiveness Admissins and Financial Aid Effectiveness Campus Climate Campus Services Instructinal Effectiveness Registratin Effectiveness Safety and Security Student Centeredness The Survey Instrument and Administratin SSI had 58 items assessing the 8 Scales abve Fr cmparisn, SSI reprted Natinal Grup Means based n 237,524 recrds invitatins t participate went t 26,647 ACC students 4,977 ACC students cmpleted the web-based survey The respnse rate was 18.7% Respndents tended t be mre female, full-time, and smewhat lder than the general student ppulatin Hw t Interpret SSI Outcmes Students rated Imprtance n a 1 7 Likert scale, with 7 being highest Students rated Satisfactin n a 1 7 Likert scale, with 7 being highest Mean Imprtance and Mean Satisfactin were calculated fr each f the 58 survey items Mean Imprtance Mean Satisfactin = Gap was calculated fr each item Gap is the discrepancy between students perceived imprtance and satisfactin with aspects f cllege life 1

5 Natinal Cmparisns ACC students expressed significantly higher levels f satisfactin than students in the Natinal Grup n 7 f the 8 Scales. ACC trails nly n Academic Advising Effectiveness. The difference is statistically insignificant but it des shw that ACC is nt a leader in this Scale. Fifty-three percent (53%) f ACC respndents indicated that their experience was better than expected. The SSI asked students t, Rate yur verall satisfactin with yur experience here thus far. Eighty-five percent (85%) expressed satisfactin with their experience. The SSI asked, All in all, if yu had t d it all ver, wuld yu enrll here again? Eighty-eight percent (88%) replied that they wuld enrll at ACC again. 4
