1 JOB DESCRPTON/ CANDDATE SPECFCATON POST: SALARY: RESPONSBLE TO: RESPONSBLE FOR: DBS: Head of Employer Engagement (Training Solutions) Basic 50k (plus performance related pay up to 10k) Deputy Principal Staff within Training Solutions Cleared at enhanced level THE COLLEGE Richmond upon Thames College is a successful College of Further and Higher Education committed to the highest standards of teaching and learning, pastoral support and personal development. Based in Twickenham, South West London, we offer our students an extensive range of full-time and part-time courses within an effective learning community. JOB PURPOSE The post holder will have responsibility for developing Employer based skills contracts and the Apprenticeship offer at the College and for running the day to day operations of Training Solutions, the employer engagement department at the College. n addition the post holder will be responsible for generating new sources of income and funding for the College across the full range of its activities, making a significant net contribution to the College s finances. The objectives and KPs to be agreed and monitored are as set out below. Key to the role is the establishment and development of excellent relationships with stakeholders both within and outside the College. The post holder will have the skills to initiate, monitor and manage relationships with a range of external stakeholders, ensuring commercial viability for the College and high levels of customer satisfaction. The role requires strong management and negotiation skills to ensure that: all staff within the area are effectively supported, directed and their performance managed, so that the College can meet its strategic objective for growth in workbased learning. MAN DUTES AND RESPONSBLTES To lead on all matters to do with Business Development across the College, developing effective external relationships to position the College effectively for growth and investment To lead the Business Development consultant team to maximise the number of high quality work based contracts and innovative training solutions for employers To collect and analyse LM to inform targeting strategies for employer and business visits To lead on the work of College bidding, maximising funding opportunities and creation of surplus income to support the College s development and to be responsible for all

2 contract compliance, performance and financial targets for this area of the College s work To ensure that processes and procedures are in place for the College to maximise its engagement with employers including the use of a CRM system to manage activity and market intelligence To lead on the development of an income diversification strategy which will include but not be limited to growth in commercial fee paying programmes To work with the VP Curriculum and Learner Services and Curriculum Directors on the development of Apprenticeships, professional programmes and sector based work academies To support the integration of new business opportunities effectively To report on market trends To line manage direct reports including appraisal and performance management, to ensure strategic alignment and effective delivery in line with priorities and business planning targets To drive an ethos of continuous improvement in the College, using client feedback to inform on actions KEY TASKS TO NCLUDE Sourcing and implementing new business opportunities Generating new income streams Leading on the employer relationships functions of the College Developing operational models for employer contracted provision Development of the apprenticeship strategy in line with the Skills Funding Agency and Apprenticeship trailblazer reforms To define the apprenticeship offer to employers and learners, in conjunction with operational delivery team To liaise with Marketing and Curriculum teams to develop effective promotional materials and activity dentifying and developing opportunities to grow the learner numbers which will enhance operational performance and college profitability Effective management of business development consultants, to ensure delivery of associated key financial and quality performance indicators Ensure Business Development Consultants have a complete understanding of the delivery portfolio in order to promote apprenticeship success and develop sales opportunities Operate as an interface and point of escalation for key customer relationships to ensure positive relationships and partnerships. Liaise with key bodies in the industry to ensure programmes meet the emerging needs of employers and learners Ensure that quality of delivery is of a high standard, and relevant to employers needs Work with College services to ensure administration, systems and procedures are of a sufficient standard to provide accurate and timely LR returns Manage and monitor audit and compliance systems and processes Provide detailed reports on the operation of the business to inform managerial and business decisions

3 OBJECTVES AND KPs TO NCLUDE Targets for growth in apprenticeship and commercial income Targets for improving the net promoter and FE Choices scores (employer feedback) Targets for obtaining repeat business from existing clients Targets for establishing new relationships Proportion of activity focused on pursuing commercial contracts or projects Targets and objectives around employer engagement activities e.g. forums, networking, events Setting out how intelligence will be used to support Curriculum and College Management teams GENERAL DUTES To participate fully in appraisal according to the College requirements and undertake training and development likely to improve personal knowledge and skills as required. To keep up-to-date with Quality mprovement initiatives and to be aware of, and meet, service standards for the department. To propose any ideas that may help to promote and extend the College s reputation and efficient running of the College. To undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with College policies inclusive of Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Child and Vulnerable Adult protection, Quality and Financial regulations. To report any concerns to the appropriate person. To use appropriate management information to recognise and support diversity in the staff workforce and in the student cohort. To work safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines stated in the College Health and Safety Policy. To be available to assist in enrolment procedures. This may require additional hours including evenings and weekends, for example during the Autumn Term. To work flexibly including; early mornings, evenings and weekends, in line with the demands of College events and meetings with partners, external stakeholders and/or employers. To undertake any other duties commensurate with your level of responsibility as may be required by the College Principalship.

4 CONDTONS OF SERVCE Annual leave entitlement is 35 days holiday plus 3 days for planned closures of the College, and Bank/Public holidays normally observed in England and Wales. The appointment will be subject to suitable references, medical clearance, enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and evidence of qualifications. All of the above checks must have been completed before the start of the employment. Confirmation of appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a ten month probationary period. This job description/candidate specification is subject to periodic review.
