1 Specification of services The structure of Praxis Praxis is an information system of the TCM International Ltd. The software was developed to support processes in the field of Tool Management. Furthermore it focuses on the standardisation of processes as well as on detailed analysis. This is the basis for a continuous improvement and error prevention. Technically Praxis is based on a powerful data base. Therefore we use the SQL server (SQL Server 2000). This data base enables a central service, like TCM has (cp. Picture 1), or the distributed, remote service while the data is being replicated between the single data base servers. 2 The connection of systems It exists the possibility to export data in different formats according to the functions of the program and the data base server itself. The connection to other systems (e. g. SAP SGM) is still possible. Especially the parts of master data (article, suppliers and customers master data) as well as consumption data will be transferred into Praxis via the ERP System (SAP, ). 3 Right administration The user administration and the associated user rights of this information system consist of three levels: Software Praxis Data base Effective Rights System software Figure 3: User rights Because of this arrangement a pronounced protection results against unauthorized access. Due to the specific user rights on the level of Praxis you can grant specific settings and functions to your users over all modules. Languages It is possible to translate the program into different languages. Therefore TCM Ltd. has developed an own function, which translates all labels from the different GUIs. To support the tool management processes with adequate tasks in the area of Quality Management and Human Resources TCM Ltd. has also developed those two parts. Consequently we are able to support our core processes with quality tasks and we are able to guarantee the necessary skills of our employees.
