Basic checks: Please check whether yu have installed the newest Design Studi Release accrding t nte In case f this errr message "Unable t find servers in CMS <hst>:6400 and cluster <hst>:6400 with kind pjs and service AnalysisApplicatinDesignService. All such servers culd be dwn r disabled by the administratr. (FWM 01014)" r in case there is n adaptive prcessing server (APS) r the Analysis Applicatin Service was nt added t any APS, please apply the fllwing steps: This can happen because the Design Studi installer adds its service nly t the default APS. In case this default APS was deleted r the deplyment template was changed (by using System Cnfiguratin Wizard in 4.1), then the service has t be added manually: A1. stp the APS by chsing "Stp Server" in the cntext menu A2. Chse "Select Services" in the cntext menu A3. Select the "Analysis Applicatin Service" in the available services list and add it t services list f this APS A4. Start the APS again r in case f a missing APS B1. Chse New/New Server in the cntext menu f Service Categries. B2. Chse categry "Analysis Services" and select service "Analysis Applicatin Service" B3. Start the server Read the SAP BusinessObjects Design Studi Administratr Guide especially the cnfiguratin and trubleshting paragraphs After making any changes t the cnfiguratin ensure that yu have restarted the Adaptive Prcessing Server (APS) hsting the Analysis Applicatins service Page 1 f 5

2 SAP Nte supprt SAP BusinessObjects Design Studi Starting an Analysis applicatin frm designer via "Execute n BI Platfrm" leads t "Errr: Resurce nt fund" (text f brwser tab). Start the BI Launchpad and start the applicatin frm there. In case it cannt be started then please verify that yur current user r its user grup has at least View access fr the applicatin "Design Studi Runtime". [NEW] OLAP cnnectins are nt shwn in the Designer In case yu used a tl like Infrmatin Design Tl t create the OLAP cnnectin, please recreate the cnnectin using the CMC. After transprt f an Analysis applicatin frm a surce t a target sytem the data surces shw "Culd nt instantiate..." errrs. OLAP cnnectins n surce and target system must be abslutely identical, i.e. their CUIDs must be the same. It is nt sufficient t have the same names nly. Better transprt at first all relevant OLAP cnnectins via prmtin management frm surce t target system. Then transprt the Analysis applicatins. In the CMC yu can cmpare the CUIDs f a cnnectins in the prperties dialg f an OLAP cnnectin. In case yu face a text like "???dummy.actin.analysisappplicatin_view.display.name???" in the cntext menu f an Analysis applicatin in the BI launch pad r the Designer shws an errr in the "Open Applicatin" dialg "Failed t query applicatin in flder with CUID CQESAAAA9FZ...", then the Design Studi Web applicatin is nt deplyed t the Web server. In case the web server is installed n a different bx than the applicatin server (BOE), yu need t run the Design Studi Addn installer first n the web server PC and then use WDeply t deply all Web applicatins (BOE, dwsbbje,...). In case the web server is n the same machine as the BOE it is sufficient t run WDeply because the initial Design Studi Addn Setup shuld have installed the web applicatins already. The APS has the status "running" and "enabled". In case f errrs instantiating data surces, please check yur etc/services file n the server r desktp (lcal mde). Hints in the trace file are: service '?' Cnnect t message server hst failed Knwn issues: If yu face cntinues resizing n the IPad, please read nte fr mre details. If the Analysis applicatin's height is t small and shws vertical scrllbars instead, then please update yur BIP t at least SP 05 patch Page 2 f 5

Starting Analysis applicatins in BI Launchpad r in the Designer via "Execute n BI Platfrm" leads t invalid URLs like r This issue will be fixed with BI Platfrm service pack 06. WORKAROUND: change the OpenDcument URL in CMC (Chse Applicatins => Open Dcument => Cntext menu "Prcess Settings". In case this URL already lks crrupted ( please enter the URL f the fllwing frmat and replace the 2 variables with the crrect values: cument.jsp?sidtype=cuid&idcid=%si_cuid% In case this URL lks crrect yu must at least change 1 char and then press OK therwise the OK buttn has n effect. In a 2nd step pen the settings again and und the previus change. Nw yu can test with the Designer and the "Execute n BI Platfrm" menu item. Wrng hst/prt/url in brwser: Starting Analysis applicatins in Designer via "Launch n BI platfrm" tlbar buttn leads t a wrng hst and/r prt in the brwser's URL. In case this URL differs frm the URL cnfigured in the Open Dcument applicatin, then please apply the same steps explained abve. (change pen dcument URL and und again) t frce a prpagatin f the current URL t all Design Studi applicatins. after installatin f the BI Platfrm 4.0 SP 04 patch 3 r patch 4, the CMS crashes e.g. after cnnectins t a message server using a lgn grup: please apply nte Please check in the CMC under autenticatin => SAP. On the "Entitelment Systems" tab check ALL (!) systems. They must nt be cnfigured as "Lad Balancing" but as "Applicatin hst" instead. In case OLAP cnnectins and ther data surces are nt appearing in Design Studi: this can happen if yur OLAP cnnectin directly pints t a BW infprvider. Letting it pint t a BW query r a BW query view will nt cause prblems. This prblem will be fixed in the 1.1 release. Statup perfrmance with t many data surces: instead f lading all data surces during startup f yur applicatin yu can set the "Lad in Script" prperty f a data surce t true. Furthermre yu have t add script cde DS_<x>.assignDataSurce(<Cnnectin>,<Type>, <Name>); which initializes the data surce at a later pint f time.
