1 Title: Responsible to: Technical Manager Production Manager Located in Glasgow s Merchant City, Tron Theatre consists of a 230 seat auditorium, a 50 capacity studio/rehearsal space, Education Suite/rehearsal space, Victorian Bar/ performance space, dressing rooms, a get-in area, café bar area, a box office and office accommodation for administration and production staff. Tron Theatre is both a producing company and a receiving house. We aim to produce a number of Tron Theatre Company shows and occasional coproductions each year. We focus on new work and contemporary classic theatre whether through our own productions or visiting companies. The Tron is a cultural hub for local artists and much support is given to emerging theatre companies and the platforming of new projects. Tron Theatre Company occasionally tours work internationally. The main aims and objectives of the role are: To organise and manage the technical, physical and human resources of the Tron Technical Department, comprising of (at time of publication) 2 full time technicians and freelance crew, to the highest standards, in order to achieve the artistic aims of the organisation. To ensure the efficient running of the technical department and to provide a safe, efficient, tidy and welcoming working environment. To keep expenditure within the agreed budgets and, where appropriate, make further savings. To maintain and develop the technical facilities of the Tron. Where possible to increase revenues through enhancing events with additional technical services and equipment hires to visiting companies, private hires and working with the events team to expand the calendar of events. The main responsibilities of the role: The recruitment, in consultation with the Head of Production, of all future technical staff, including casuals and freelance theatre technicians. The management of above-mentioned staff, including supervision of work, delegation, time-keeping and disciplinary matters. To assist the Head of Production in co-ordinating with visiting companies ensuring that their technical, stage and staffing requirements are met

Collating this information and preparing staff rotas, to work around normal working hours as far as possible, providing reasonable warning of potential overtime costs to the Head of Production. Organise regular Technical Department meetings to discuss rotas, plans for future events/shows, and other relevant information. Where required rig, operate and deliver productions and events. To provide updates on all Technical matters at full Production Department meetings. Welcoming visiting companies, where necessary assisting with pre-rigs, get-ins, focusing, plotting etc, basic stage work, operating lighting and sound and assisting with Get-outs. To liaise with the Head of Production on the technical requirements of inhouse productions, attending Production Meetings, working within the given budgets and to advise on all fit up schedules and production week schedules. To liaise with the Technical Stage Manager & Stage Manager on all inhouse productions including set electrics, electrical props, pyrotechnics Responsible for, where applicable, all technical arrangements for Tron touring productions, including liaison with venue technical management, hires / loans of technical equipment as well for its safe and prompt return. Responsible for the provision and maintenance of all in house technical facilities and equipment for all events throughout the Tron Theatre building and if applicable offsite. Responsible for the implementation of a planned maintenance schedule with record keeping for all technical equipment with a view to safety, efficiency and economy. Making recommendations to the Head of Production regarding equipment repair, purchase and renewal. Management an annual budget for spares, renewals, repairs for all technical equipment. Carrying out annual portable appliance testing for all technical equipment. Responsible for the Health & Safety of the technical department, including the safe deployment of equipment, pyrotechnics and effects. Responsible for the Health & Safety of the public in so far as how the stage and technical activity affects the safety of the building and access to escape routes and emergency lighting. Responsible for ensuring visiting companies are made aware of all housekeeping including company culture, relevant policies, security fireexits and fire procedures.

3 Responsible for Ensuring that all fire-exits are unlocked and fire escapes are clear at all times as well as ensuring fire alarms within the theatre are isolated/reset when necessary. Responsible for the checking and locking up and alarming of the theatre and backstage areas when necessary. In the absence of the Head of Production, in conjunction with the Technical Stage Manager and the Stage Manager, assume responsibility for the Production Department and all its relevant events. Responsible for maintaining a high standard of housekeeping within technical areas. Identification of training needs and suitable training opportunities for technical staff. Responsible for the checking and submission of weekly Technical Staff Time-sheets, and liaison with the finance and payroll team.
