2 Key Tasks Press and communications support To help compile and write articles and develop content for the University s website and other channels, including the award-winning Met Magazine. To monitor social media and signpost issues of potential reputational concern to the relevant Press & Communications Officer. To update and write content for a range of social media communication channels, including Twitter and Facebook, to promote and support the distribution of key University news stories. To assist in booking photo shoots for PR purposes, including the writing of photo briefings and liaising with staff and freelance photographers. To maintain editorial calendars and other relevant databases to enable the Press Office to maximise coverage opportunities. To monitor major news stories and identify opportunities for the University to highlight its worldclass research and facilitate academic experts speaking to the media. To assist in proofreading copy for press releases, website and newsletters. To assist the Press Office in the organisation of staff media training and briefing sessions. To provide support and assistance to the Press & Communications Officers for events, filming and media opportunities held at the University to ensure their efficient operation and to achieve maximum press coverage. Administration To provide an effective, efficient and proactive administrative service to the Press Office to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations. To ensure enquiries from journalists and University colleagues (by , phone and in person) are dealt with promptly and professionally to support the work of the team. To update media monitoring platforms and help the Senior Press & Communications Officer prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the internal team and Senior Management. To maintain and update the xperts List to help journalists find the correct academic contact for stories.

3 To maintain and update media distribution lists and databases to ensure maximum coverage is achieved from media releases and press calls. To provide any additional administrative support where necessary. Team work To plan and organise own work, working flexibly to adapt to the changing priorities and needs of the team. Continuous development To keep up to date with new and emerging communications and PR-related techniques and developments as required.
