1 Job escription Post : Structural ngineering Team Leader Post No. : Grade : M1/M5 Section : Building Surveying Location : NPS London Reporting Arrangements and Main Contacts The postholder will report to esign Services irector. Main Tasks and Accountabilities The Structural ngineering Leader will carry out a range of functions having regard to the qualifications held and experience incurred to date, and formally manage a team of Structural ngineers and the line management of the CM Coordinator function. These functions include the following: 1. To assist the esign Services irector in the resourcing of Structural and CM professional services, including the use of outside consultants and contractors, in the delivery of the programmes of work. 2. To organise and manage the work of the Structural ngineering Team to meet the target dates and keep operating costs within fee. 3. To manage and undertake a portfolio of individual project commissions as appropriate. 4. To prepare SLA s, including Service Contracts; produce budget costs; detailed specifications; analyse tenders and supply chain management. 5. To promote the use and development of Information Technology in particular CA throughout the team. 6. To liaise and co-operate with other members of the esign Services and Property Services Group. 7. To keep up to date with changing legislation standards and technology. Update standard specifications and documents.

2 8. To be responsible for identification of training requirements of the team. 9. To ensure that customer requirements are identified and agreed with the client. 10. To make visits to other NPS offices when required. 11. To ensure the implementation and compliance of all NPS policies, procedures and guidelines. 12. To ensure/contribute/lead on the delivery of quality assured, client focused products and services to meet the agreed requirements of the customer 13. To contribute to the operation and development of the Business Management System to ensure the continuous improvement of quality assured services/products for clients. 14. To carry out other duties appropriate to the level and character of the post. Key Result Areas The postholder will be expected to: 1. To programme, allocate and monitor project work and to undertake tasks and building project work competently within determined financial budgets and fee/cost targets. 2. To provide management and professional support for the mechanical and lectrical team. 3. To provide appropriate and decisive team leadership. 4. To encourage and achieve the best possible performance of the team. 5. To prepare clear, accurate and precisely annotated contract documentation. 6. To deliver quality customer focussed consultancy services and buildings on time and within budget. 7. To assist in the achievement of Business Plan objectives and targets. 8. Act as Commission Manager and/or Project Manager on large complex projects and SLA s. 9. Act as Project Manager of any special Improvement initiatives identified by the NPS Management Team. 4 Person Specification Post : Structural ngineering Team Leader Post No. : Grade : M1/M5 Section : Structural ngineering Surveying Location : NPS London xperience (uration, type and level of experience) =ssential =esirable Criteria The ability to demonstrate expertise in visual and verbal presentational skill and communication. Provide high standard of professional Building Surveying services to a variety of stakeholders. xperience in the financial monitoring and resourcing of projects. xperience in Project Boards and Project Board reporting. Must demonstrate a good knowledge of building Construction and the diagnosis of building faults. Previous relevant experience in a similar client side role. Must have experience in dealing with clients at establishment head level. xperience in working to agreed targets within a commercial environment. Qualifications (Number, type and level of qualification or equivalent experience if appropriate) Should hold or be working towards a recognised professional qualification (MRICS, RIBA, MCIOB or similar), and have relevant post qualification experience, or have extensive property related experience at a supervisory level in a similar role and possess a Related egree qualification. Membership of an appropriate professional body. Formal building construction industry training. Current CITB CSCS card or be prepared to obtain this. Skills, knowledge and aptitudes Flexible and able to meet tight deadlines.

5 An effective manager and ensure staff perform to expected levels. Good organisational skills. Must be able to demonstrate relevant up to date CP records. Must be able to work unsupervised to a high quality. Must demonstrate the ability and skills to lead and manage a team. Financially astute. A responsive, constructive and flexible attitude towards working arrangements within a team environment. Capability to act as a Commission Manager and/or Project Manager Ability to identify training requirements of the team. Proficient in using CA and IT (Microsoft Access, xcel, Word and Project.). Knowledge of CM Must have relevant construction and health and safety knowledge/legislation. xcellent Client and Business development skills. Capable of prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. Must be familiar with the risks and hazards associated with asbestos. Must have experience in dealing with clients at senior levels. Able to demonstrate business acumen. Personal qualities and social skills emonstrate ability and commitment to customer care. Adaptable to the various duties of the post. Must have a commitment to diversity and equality of opportunity. Ability to work on own initiative as an individual or as a team member. Contribute to the development of good working relationships within the team. Self motivated with the ability to enthuse and motivate others. xcellent social and communication/negotiation skills.
