1 & Program Worker YWCA NSW works with women, children, young people and their families to find the possible in their lives. Our community services and programs are designed to change the course of young lives and the future of communities. We have two exciting opportunities available at our Goonellabah site running the ryse up Links 2 Learning program for year 9 girls who are at risk of disengaging from school. We are seeking a strengths based coordinator experienced in facilitating change with young people who can develop and implement this program. You will be passionate about and have experience in supporting young women to build confidence, self esteem, gender connection, hope for the future and to reconnect them with learning (additional criteria in position description). We will provide you with a supportive team environment, salary packaging, a 30 hour/ week fixed-term contract until 22/12/17 with renewal dependent on funding. SCHDSI Level 4/Grade 4. ryse up Youth Program Worker Supporting the Coordinator, this position will suit a youth program worker who is passionate about supporting young women to learn, grow and connect with themselves and each other. (Criteria in position description). We will provide you with a supportive team environment, salary packaging, a 15 hours/ week fixed-term contract until 22/12/17 with renewal dependent on funding. 2 Position Description Title Department Northern Rivers Reports to Senior Manager, Northern Rivers Direct Reports ryse up Youth Program Worker Location 101a Rous Road, Goonellabah NSW January 2016 Purpose The is responsible for the efficient and effective development, coordination and delivery of the Lismore Year 9 girls Links to Learning program in line with best practice, research, contractual requirements, policies & procedures and risk management guidelines. Key accountabilities - Development and delivery of the ryse up program, in line with successful funding application and funding body requirements, that builds self-esteem, confidence and gender reconnection and re-engages Year 9 girls back into school. - Recruitment, management and utilising of community partners, staff and volunteers to attaining strong engagement and connection with students. - Linking with community partners to ensure the development of informed knowledgeable students who understand service pathways and connections. - Building of strong supportive relationships with stakeholders and with the Advisory Group. - Management of project and budget to ensure it meets project outcomes, evaluation and reporting requirements, financial projections and timeframes. - Other duties from time to time as directed. Selection criteria Being a woman applying for employment in this role is a genuine qualification and approved exemption under Section 31 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act. 1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or at least 3 years experience in education, social work, social sciences or similar.

Demonstrated experience in facilitating change with young people, particularly young girls, in a strengths based way that encourages them to build relationships, develop self responsibility, self esteem and confidence. 3. Demonstrated experience in developing, managing and implementing programs within budget and meeting contractual requirements. 4. Demonstrated understanding of, and training in, relevant child protection legislation. 5. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders. 6. Sound computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. 7. Current First Aid and CPR certificate or a willingness to obtain. 8. Light Rigid Drivers Licence or willingness to obtain. This position requires the incumbent, to at all times, comply with the organisation s Child Protection Policy. Key accountabilities Support the Youth Program Coordinator to deliver group sessions to girls participating in the Links to Learning program. Support group participants to contribute meaningfully to program activities and achieve personal, gender connected and school re-engagement outcomes. Assist with set up and closing of program days including, transport and purchasing resources and catering. Monitor risks in and around the sessions for the safety of the participants, stakeholders and volunteers. Coordinate volunteers and stakeholders during session times. Other relevant duties as required Selection criteria Being a woman applying for employment in this role is a genuine qualification and approved exemption under Section 31 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act. 1. At least one year s experience in youth work, community service work, vocational training or similar. 2. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with young people, particularly young girls. 3. Demonstrated experience in group work, activitiy based learning and/or leadership. 4. Demonstrated understanding of, and/or training in, relevant child protection legislation. 5. Sound computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. 6. Ability to work independently with strong organisation skills.
