1 OCONOMOWOC AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT Role Description JOB TITLE: Communication & Marketing Administrative Assistant (12- month position) Reports to: FTE: Work Category: Communication & Marketing Manager Part-time (5.75 hrs/day, 12 month), may include occasional evening or weekend commitments Light Date: March 3, 2017 JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY: To perform administrative assistant/clerical responsibilities for the Director of Communication & Marketing using specialized technological ability. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties described below are indicative of what the may be asked to perform. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Assist the Manager of Communication & Marketing in writing, coordinating, producing, and disseminating District news releases and other articles for District publication. 2. Create the employee electronic newsletter (INSIDER) and publish to staff. 3. Obtain and edit District photos for use in internal and external publications and with social media. 4. Create context for District newsletter, seeking stories and interviewing staff about programs and events. 5. Create draft documents, proofreads, and assists in layout and design of District publications. 6. Posts information do District web site, employee intranet, Facebook and other social media outlets. 7. Disseminates correspondence for Manager of Communication & Marketing. 8. Create and maintain databases of District donors and alumni and generate reports with data mining. 9. Assist with special events planning. 10. Maintain mailing lists and send bulk mail. 11. Answer phone for Manager of Communication & Marketing and filter requests for work.

2 Page 2 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, individuals must possess a valid Wisconsin driver s license and be able to drive between District locations. Possession of a working motor vehicle is required of this position. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A. High School diploma B. Experience as an administrative assistant or other job related experience preferred. C. Experience with alumni relations preferred. Technical Skills A. Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office, database, desktop publishing, communication technology, etc.). B. Knowledge and ability to use web publishing software. C. Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, composition, and grammar. D. Ability to compose and write clearly and concisely in a timely manner, using correct grammar and spelling. E. Ability to copy-edit and proofread written work. F. Basic math skills. Organizational Skills A. Ability to organize time (i.e., able to work on one-time only tasks as well as ongoing tasks, while at the same time handling interruptions, in fast-paced environment, etc.). B. Ability to establish priorities. C. Ability to be a self-starter and work independently. Communication Skills A. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with parents, staff and community members. B. Ability to communicate positively with administrators, students, staff and the public. C. Ability to work as a part of a team. D. Ability to handle sensitive information in a professional manner.
