2 Introduction from the Chairman I would like to thank you for your interest in the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST). I hope that through this pack you will come to learn about us, our passion for promoting the integration of people of all physical abilities, diverse backgrounds and age groups through the challenge and adventure of tall ship sailing, and the importance of this role in leading the Trust during a critical phase of our development. In our 35 year history, the JST has taken over 40,000 people to sea, about 38% of whom were disabled, of those approximately 5,000 were wheelchair users. We have had and continue to have significant success but, as with many charities, the last few years have been challenging. This has lead to a number of significant initiatives, both on shore and at sea, to allow us to adapt to these challenges and safeguard our future. One of our ships, Lord Nelson, is currently in the last quarter of a two-year round the world trip. She became the first accessible tall ship to round Cape Horn on the 2nd February and is currently in Antarctica. We will continue to be innovative and creative to enable us to carry out our charitable aims, now on an increasingly global scale. We have a fantastic team both onshore and at sea, as well as a very loyal group of benefactors that continue helping us build for the future. This is a very important period for the JST. As Lord Nelson returns from her first round the world trip, we are actively planning our next round-the-world adventure, building on the significant success of Sail the World. We are also continually evolving to ensure that we run our operation in the most efficient and professional way. Particularly relevant is our ambitious fundraising plan, which seeks to proactively develop the significant base of support we have built over many years. At this exciting and opportune time, we are looking for a new CEO with strategic vision and ambition to lead the Trust forward, making the most of these opportunities. As CEO, your prime role will be as the external face for the JST, with individual and corporate benefactors, partners, other charitable and non-charitable organisations. You will not only build on our existing successful relationships, but also develop new ones to maximise income generation and the impact of our mission. Working closely with the Trustees, you will be responsible for the development and execution of our strategic plan, bringing vision and expertise that will safeguard our future success. Undoubtedly, this is a challenging but also extremely satisfying role. You will be inspired and stimulated. The JST exists to changes lives and there is no doubt it will change yours as well. 3 About the Jubilee Sailing Trust The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) is a registered charity whose mission is to promote the integration of people of all physical abilities through the challenge and adventure of tall ship sailing aboard two very special ships, Lord Nelson and Tenacious. The JST takes both disabled and able-bodied men and women to sea, to not only teach them how to crew a tall ship, but to promote equality, sharing, and to celebrate our individual differences by working together to achieve greater things. Anyone over the age of 16 can sail with us and we take people from all over the world. We aim to take an equal mix of able-bodied and physically disabled crew on each trip with a maximum of 40 people on each voyage. We strive to achieve integration on other levels such as age, background, religion, culture and gender. Aboard our ships every crew member has a vital role to play irrespective of ability, disability, age, or gender. The success of each voyage depends on teamwork and working to the best of individuals strengths, not weaknesses. Crewing a tall ship can be a challenge for anyone; at the Jubilee Sailing Trust we prove that with teamwork and understanding this challenge can be met. Through the JST experience, our mission is to achieve the following outcomes: bodied people abilities and to focus on what they can do rather than want they cannot. The Jubilee Sailing Trust has been changing lives since In that year it became a registered charity through the extraordinary vision of a dedicated group of people working against the odds to make their dream a reality. Back then the idea of integrating physically disabled with able-bodied people on a tall ship was a unique concept and the JST still remains to this day the only organisation of its kind in the world. Since the JST was established in 1978 over 40,000 people have sailed with us. Of these approximately 15,000 people were disabled and 5,000 wheelchair users. In January 2014 Lord Nelson was awarded with the MCA/ASTO Sail Training Vessel of the Year. This is to reward an operator for fulfilling both the Sail Training aspirations of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO) and the seamanship and safety requirements of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). 3

5 Job Description Reporting to: The Trustees of the Jubilee Sailing Trust (via Chairman) Responsible for: The staff team, via the Senior Leadership Team Location: London based with travel to Southampton 1 day a week, plus occasional overseas travel Salary: Circa 100,000 per annum Purpose of the Role Leadership Team to define, and execute, an optimal strategy for the charity charity in alignment with its objectives, strategic vision, mission and values all aspects of income generation governance responsibilities Key Areas of Responsibility Strategic Leadership and abroad implementation of all long term Business Vision Strategies and Operational Plans in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team Governance optimise the performance of, all principal JST officers including the Patron, Vice Patrons, President, Vice Presidents and Branch Chairs. the senior leadership team to: Align, and engage, the organisation to effectively execute the strategic plan Ensure adoption of all policies and procedures Recommend enhancements to policies and procedures where necessary Provide the Trustee Board with regular reporting on key performance indicators and other strategically relevant issues 5
