Functinalities and purpses f enterprise systems will be presented and analyzed, including enterprise resurce planning (ERP) systems, custmer relatinship management (CRM) systems, and supply chain management (SCM) systems. The curse will, in particular, intrduce enterprise systems, examine the implementatin prcess f ERP systems, cvering business prcesses, ERP architecture, ERP usage, implementatin tls and methdlgy, prject planning, enterprise systems integratin, change management, and vendr/prduct selectin. Prerequisite: IS Analysis and Design Techniques Learning Outcmes Students will be able t explain what enterprise systems are and their implementatin prcess. Students will be able t explain the rle f business prcesses in supprt f implementatin f enterprise systems. Students will be able t wrk with Micrsft Dynamics AX ERP system. Students will be able t analyze and discuss real-wrld cases pertinent t enterprise systems. Students will be able t cnduct research and present their findings n enterprise systems and related tpics. The verall grade fr participatin drps ne-third after any unexcused absence. Three absences fr any reasn, whether excused r nt, may cnstitute failure fr the curse. In additin, students participatins in in-class discussins (e.g., case analyses) will be cnsidered tward the class participatin credit. Fr nline students, the class participatin credit will be calculated based n their cllabratins with their grups tward their grup prjects. All students are accuntable fr material cvered and assignments/annuncements made in any class sessins that they miss. Students are expected t be active learners, cming t class prepared t participate in discussin f the tpics under cnsideratin, asking gd questins and making valuable bservatins. Bnus Credit Students wh participate in research studies (as respndents) will receive 0.5 credits fr every 30 minutes f studies they participate. Each student can earn up t 2% bnus credit (extra t 100%) by participating in different research studies as participants. This activity will benefit yu and the researchers. Yu will learn mre abut research methds first-hand by participating in them and ur researchers at DePaul will be able t cllect data in supprt f their research studies that benefit ur academic cmmunity. If yu are interested, yu can register n this site: At the end f the quarter, I will be prvided with a list f students and the number f studies they have participated t calculate the extra bnus (maximum f 2%). Mre instructins will be prvided in class in this regard. Grup Frmatin fr Grup Activities (ERP Tpic Analysis) Students shuld frm grups f up t 3 students fr the grup activities (see Assignments and Exams Infrmatin sectin). Each grup shuld elect a cntact persn, wh is respnsible fr the cmmunicatins with me n behalf f the grup. The cntact persn shuld submit the grup members full names and DePaul s alng with their prject prpsal in a Micrsft Wrd file t the pertinent flder n D2L by the deadline indicated in the curse schedule (at the end f this dcument). Assignments & Exams Infrmatin ERP Lab Assignments (Individual Activity): There are tw lab assignments in which students will gain hands-n experience with a real-wrld ERP system (Micrsft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP). Handuts fr the lab assignments will be prvided via D2L hmepage f the curse and students will fllw the instructins t cmplete them using CDM Student Remte Desktp Server Access (CDM Terminal Server): Bth lab assignments will be dne back t back in ne lab sessin. The instructins n hw t access and use the system will be prvided in class. The lab sessin will be held in a different lcatin at CDM 819. 3 Curse Syllabus Dcument This curse includes tw Harvard Business Case analyses. The case studies will be included in the curse package that shuld be purchased by the students. These are individual activities, meaning that each student will study, discuss, and answer the questins related t the case studies. A prtin f class time will be dedicated t discussing the cases in class. Students shuld prvide thrugh answers t the questins fr case studies. Respnses shuld be included in a Wrd file and be submitted t D2L. Clsed Bk Exam (Individual Activity): There is a clsed bk exam in this curse, as explained in the curse schedule at the end f this curse syllabus dcument. The exam will be administered nline, via D2L, fr all students. Fr n-campus students (n-campus sectin): the exam will be administered n D2L and will be prctred in a cmputer lab lcated at CDM center (please nte the lcatin f the exam in the curse schedule at the end f this dcument. This is a different lcatin than the rm fr ur weekly classes). Fr nline students (nline sectin): the exam will be administered n D2L and will be prctred using Examity nline prctring services. Examity is an nline prctring service that uses yur webcam and micrphne n yur cmputer t prctr the nline exam. Examity ptin is available ONLY t nline students. Online students can register fr nline prctring in Examity, at least ne week prir t the exam date, using the link that will be psted t D2L. They will have several days t take the exam using Examity. Online students shuld nte the fllwings fr using Examity fr nline prctring: (a) Yu must register fr nline prctring f yur exam by Examity at least ne week prir t the exam date. The link will be psted t D2L at least a week befre the exam date. (b) Yu must take the exam n a desktp cmputer r a laptp (but, NOT a tablet, NOR a smartphne). (c) Yur Internet speed must be at least 3Mbps dwnlad and 3Mbps uplad t be able t take the nline exam n D2L and be prctred by Examity. Determiner yur Internet speed by running a test at: (d) The recmmended web brwsers t use fr the nline exams n D2L are Firefx and Chrme. (e) Yu must have a wrking built-in r external webcam, a micrphne, and wrking built-in r external speakers fr the Examity prctr t prctr yur exam nline (they will cmmunicate with yu and watch yu during the exam). (f) Examity prctrs will ask fr yur ID and a passcde that yu shuld select when registering fr nline prctring befre letting yu starting the exam. Ensure t have all the required infrmatin. (g) Examity prctrs will pan the rm multiple times at the beginning and during the exam. Large mnitrs are nt allwed as they are nt equipped t pan the rm. (h) The Examity prctred exam cannt be taken in a public space, such as a library (unless yu bk a private and quiet rm with a clsed dr in the library fr the exam). (i) Examity will recrd the whle exam sessin (vice and vide), including yur cmputer screen during the exam. All the recrdings will be reviewed by a secnd persn after the exam and will be flagged fr suspicius activities. All the recrdings and the flags will be shared with the prfessr fr review and grading cnsideratins. (j) Internet searches and using bks, ntes, and any electrnic devices are nt allwed during the exam. (k) Interacting with anyne ther than the Examity prctr is nt allwed during the exam. ERP Tpic Analysis (Grup Activity, Turnitin Assignment): Each grup f students will be assigned a tpic frm the fllwing ptins. The grup shuld then d a research n the tpic, prepare a presentatin and a reprt fr the tpic. On-campus students shuld present their presentatins t the class. The details are prvided belw. Prepare a 30-min presentatin fr presenting yur tpic t the class (n mre than 15 slides). Submit yur PwerPint slides fr yur presentatin t D2L (see curse schedule fr the deadline). Nte: Slides are nt meant t be read but viewed. Dn't read ut f the slides r yur script; talk t the audience and explain the tpics the way yu have understd them. Make sure t include references prperly. Use qutatins t cite smene s wrds. Prepare a reprt fr yur tpic in a MS-Wrd dcument (n less than 10 pages, with 12-pint Times New Rman fnt, 1 inch margin all arund). Submit yur reprt t D2L (see curse schedule fr the deadline). Reprts will be checked fr riginality using Turnitin functinality in D2L. Reprts with similarity rate f mre than 20% will nt be accepted (receive zer credit). Make sure t include references prperly. Use qutatins t cite smene s wrds. Fr referencing, use APA referencing frmat: Submissin Timeline and Deadlines (Imprtant Nte) All submissins in this curse must be in an electrnic frmat and shuld be submitted t the pertinent flder n D2L. Als, always keep a cpy f yur assignments fr yurself in case they are nt submitted crrectly. N hardcpy and/r ed submissin is accepted. In rder t maintain a gd perfrmance in this curse, it is crucial t submit the deliverables n time. Deliverables are due n a specified date and time, as stated in the curse schedule, at the end f this dcument, unless an extensin/exceptin is annunced. Late assignments will be subject t 10% penalty fr each day f late submissin (i.e., frm ne secnd t 24 hurs late). Assignments that are mre than THREE days late will NOT receive any credits. This plicy is strictly enfrced, unless I am infrmed f a dcumented emergency at least 24 hurs befre the deadline (i.e., all health prblems shuld be supprted by a prper dctr nte). The nly exceptin is Grup Prject Presentatin and Reprt, where NO late submissin will be accepted. It is students respnsibility t knw when the assignments are due (see the curse schedule, at the end f this dcument). The assignment flder n D2L will autmatically clse three (3) days after the submissin deadline. Once a flder is clsed, n submissin will be accepted. Online Curse Evaluatins Evaluatins are a way fr students t prvide valuable feedback regarding their instructr and the curse. A prgram is used t check if the student cmpleted the evaluatins, but the evaluatin is cmpletely separate frm the student s identity. Since 100% participatin is ur gal, students are sent peridic reminders ver three weeks. Students d nt receive reminders nce they cmplete the evaluatin.
