1 Vacancies fr Prgram Manager, Research Assistant, and Research Interns The Tata Institute f Scial Sciences (TISS), Mumbai is assisting Gvernment f Gujarat fr a study prject in mining-affected villages in varius districts. The study is part f the preparatin f annual plans fr village develpment under PMKKKY scheme. TISS is lking fr Prgram Managers, Research Assistant, and Research Interns wh will be respnsible fr carrying ut research and cnduct a baseline survey t understand the sci-ecnmic impact n the cmmunity in the Mining affected villages. I. Prgram Manager The Prgram Manager will be respnsible fr carrying ut research and supervise the activities f the whle team including RA/RI in the district. The Prgram Managers wuld be reprting t Cnsultants. Other duties and respnsibilities may be assigned by Cnsultants. Weekly wrk requirements and schedules must be discussed with the Cnsultants t ensure that the wrk pririties can be accmplished within the scheduled time. Psitins There are ttal 6 psitins fr the Prgram Manager Essential Qualificatins Master's degree in relevant areas plus minimum 2 years f relevant experience r M.Phil/PhD students f relevant experience f up t 2 years with expsure fr Prject Management, cnducting surveys, and reprt writing, preferably in the scial develpment sectr/public plicy/jurnalism; shuld have excellent written and ral cmmunicatin skills and have the ability t bth lead and functin as a member f a team; shuld have the experience t rganize and crdinate prgrams. And t prvide strategic guidance t teams; Gd knwledge and handling f prject and prgram management methdlgy and techniques; The candidate is expected t wrk n the fllwing aspects:
2 T supervise all the activities in a district and ensuring that the bjectives f the study are met; Wrk in teams t design evaluatin tls and frmats based n pre-defined gals and indicatrs; Cnduct training and mnitr fr survey pilts n the field; Design, cnduct and crdinate field level surveys, and crdinatin with Research Assciates and Interns; Cllate and analyse findings frm the data cllected; Present Reprts n findings t diverse stakehlders; T be able t perfrm the abve tasks effectively, the Prgram Manager shall be expected t wrk in clse crdinatin with the Research Team; Cmfrtable and adept at building strng relatinships with a wide range f stakehlders including elected representatives, bureaucrats, civil sciety rganisatins, think tanks, resurce persns and NGOs; Develp r assist in the develpment f interview schedules; cntact ptential stakehlders t intrduce and explain study bjectives and prtcl and t arrange interviews, either in persn r by telephne; Cnduct and recrd face-t-face and/r telephne interviews with subjects, in accrdance with predetermined interview prtcl, data cllectin prcedures and dcumentatin standards; Review and edit data t ensure cmpleteness and accuracy f infrmatin; fllw up with subjects t reslve prblems r clarify data cllected; Maintain dcumentatin fr data intake, prcessing, analysis and reprting; Maintain a lg f issues faced during the survey and r/reprting s results can be replicated/verified; Prducing accurate and timely reprting f the study status thrughut its life cycle. Preferred Skills: A gd understanding f Scial, plitical and gvernance aspects Excellent reprt writing and Presentatin Knwledge f statistical cncepts and the ability t deal with large datasets with the help f analysis packages such as STATA/SPSS will be an additinal advantage. Excellent knwledge f MS Office; wrking knwledge f prgram/prject management sftware (MS Prject et cetera) is a strng advantage Strng leadership and management skills Outstanding leadership and rganizatinal skills Engagement perid and Remuneratin Engagement will be fr up t 5 mnths and availability as early as pssible. The Prgram Managers will be awarded appreciatin certificate and remuneratin f INR 40 t 50 thusand per mnth accrding t cmpetencies skill.
3 II. Research Assistant The Research Assistant will be respnsible fr carrying ut research and supervise the activities f Research Interns. The Research Assistants wuld be reprting t Prgram Manager. Other duties and respnsibilities may be assigned by Prgram Manager. Weekly wrk requirements and schedules must be discussed with the Prgram Manager t ensure that the wrk pririties can be accmplished within the scheduled time. Research Assistants will be awarded appreciatin certificate and remuneratin f INR 25 t 35 thusand per mnth accrding t cmpetencies skill.

Research Interns Research Interns, wh will be respnsible fr carrying ut research and cnduct a baseline survey t understand the magnitude f sci-ecnmic impact n the cmmunity in the Mining affected villages. The Research Interns wuld be reprting t Research Assciates. Psitins There are ttal 120 t 150 psitins fr the Research Interns Preferred Qualificatin: Graduate r Pstgraduate (either cmpleted r enrlled fr pst-graduate prgramme), preferably, in Scial Entrepreneurship/ Scial wrk/ecnmics/agriculture/develpment/ Health sectr/ Educatin/ Livelihd /Management/Anthrplgy/ Law.
