1 About The Girl s Day School Trust: The Girls Day School Trust (GDST) is the leading network of independent girls schools in the UK, educating approximately 8% of all girls at UK independent schools. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and the 12 th largest charity in the UK; all surpluses achieved from educating the 20,000 pupils in the 24 GDST schools and two academies throughout England and Wales are re-invested into girls education. Since its foundation in 1872, to a 220million organisation today, the GDST has never wavered in its belief in the uniqueness of its individual pupils, nor in our commitment to equipping them to succeed. For more information on the GDST and its schools, please visit About the GDST IT Services Team The team is based in our Trust office in London. There are 18 people in this team and we are accountable for the delivery of our core IT services to our schools, which includes our enterprisewide WAN, LAN, VoIP, WiFi and Active Directory services. Each of our schools has a local ICT team who manage their local user accounts and devices (i.e. desktops, laptops, projects, etc) and deliver support to the staff and students in their school. Our core is based primarily on Microsoft and Cisco technologies, using Office 365 as our solution. Firefly is our VLE of choice and SIMS our school management systems. Schools also have wide autonomy to select their own systems. Some of our schools are BYOD (bring your own device), some focus on Apple devices, some Google, and some Microsoft. The wide range of technologies used across our schools makes for exciting and often complex environments. We are at our best when we work in collaboration with our schools jointly developing solutions which benefit the whole Trust. We have just completed a review of our department, and are in the process of expanding the team to focus on the following areas: Business systems Looking after our core business systems including SIMS, Finance and Fundraising. We have a reinvigorated focus on our operational processes with a drive to make the best use of our corporate data to enhance our educational offering and improve our business efficiency. Security Ensuring the management and handling of our data meets industry standards. Technology partnering Working with our schools to help them get the best educational value from the technology we have. Infrastructure delivery Managing our infrastructure. 3 rd /4 th line support to schools Support the school ICT teams. Project Delivery Delivering change projects across the Trust. This represents an exciting expansion of our current remit, and thus makes it a great time to join this team. 3 Business Analyst: Location: 100 Rochester Row, London SW1P 1JP Salary: 38,000 to 45,000 depending on experience We are looking for a bright, dynamic and flexible Business Analyst. Working within our business systems team you will be technically accountable for the delivery of multiple projects. The ITS function at the GDST has recently undertaken a review and expansion of the services we offer, with this new post and team being created as a result. Working in a team of 3 (2 Business Analysts and the Business Systems & Data ), the focus will be on improving the processing analysis and usage of the diverse data flows within the GDST. You will have a very strong background in business systems. You will be key in the researching, proposing, design, implementation and testing of new services. Working with our school s administration and teaching staff as well as with the head office teams you will ensure that we have appropriate and efficient business systems that improve our efficiency, enhance our competitiveness and ensure we comply with all relevant legislation. You will be prepared to get hands-on with the data and collate information from various sources to answer the immediate needs of the organisation. Our business systems are based both in house and in the cloud, largely using a Microsoft (Office 365) platform. We are looking for people with a broad knowledge and expertise of these technologies, with a desire to keep learning new skills. Flexibility will be a key requirement of the job with the ability to supply the immediate needs of the business while developing the future solutions. 4 JOB DESCRIPTION Role ITS Business Analyst Job Purpose Drive integration of all existing business systems where possible / applicable Conduct end-to-end business systems process re-engineering, developing documenting and educating on best in class processes Research and implement new integrated business systems in partnership with the functional managers and schools to support existing business systems and drive efficiencies across the GDST Develop best practice usage of existing business systems, driving the data standards set by GDST Accountable to: Business Systems & Data Based at: Grade: Rochester Row, London, with travel to other GDST sites Accountabilities Support the development of GDST s business systems strategy Liaise with appropriate stakeholders and customers to develop end-toend, integrated business systems solutions to meet business needs Consult with, support, and facilitate training to end users on the use of business systems Analyse data reporting requirements within a business process and facilitate report development and validation Develop robust analytics and reporting infrastructure, empowering business stakeholders to make informed decisions quickly through the application of insightful analytics Key Responsibilities Support implementation of new business systems or upgrades to exiting business systems up to and including handover to production status for the Operations team to administer Propose upgrade strategies for business systems based upon feedback from end users and leadership Annual cycle of school visits to ensure schools using are using business systems technology to maximum effect (ongoing audit and gap assessment) and to receive first hand feedback from the primary end users Input to agreed data standards and ensure these are being met across functions and schools to enable best in class usage of Management Information Develop and maintain all technical and end user process documentation related to business systems
