I examine the effects of flexibility for individuals and teams, and pay particular attention to the contextual factors that shape these relationships (e.g., social norms, leadership). In my dissertation, I examine the impact of employee flexibility in interdependent high-tech teams on team communication and team creativity and innovation, seeking to better understand how organizations can both manage employee preferences for autonomy and preserve an environment that fosters creativity. In a second area of research, I evaluate how organizations manage diversity and inclusion and how it shapes the quality of employee relationships and experiences. Finally, in a third area of research, I study how individuals navigate the work-family interface and make decisions about their work and non-work lives in the context of dual career couples.
