1 Job title: Level: Team: Reporting line: DBS check required: Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Full Time) Team member Phoenix Repairs Service Quantity Surveying Manager No What is the purpose of my job? As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, I will work with the Quantity Surveying Manager and Phoenix Repairs Service (PRS) teams to provide a professional range of services associated with cost and quality management, across ALL PRS Operations, in accordance with Standing Orders and Financial Regulations. I will also work in accordance with the Phoenix Corporate Plan, together with PRS Operational and Business plans, to deliver Board and resident priorities, mitigating exposure to risk and potential for fraud. In my job I will: Support PRS Operational Management Team in managing all costs relating to repair and maintenance works, together with optimising income, from initial financial cost modelling to the production of final accounts. Work to ensure that Phoenix Repairs Service do not suffer any loss when delivering projects and work streams; while achieving the required standards and quality, and adhering to Building Regulations and Health & Safety requirements. Bring the value of challenge and questioning of existing systems and processes to the Phoenix Repairs Service and the partnership groups. Develop and manage my work to ensure that our residents are at the heart of delivery. Be responsible for the administration of sub-contractor contracts and the review of accounts submitted by contractors prior to certification and authorisation for payment Monitor and advise on price Variations and Change. Assist in valuation and assessment of actual costs. Perform risk, value management and cost control. Follow appropriate procurement procedures to secure the services of supppliers and sub contractors. Ensure budgets are monitored and not exceeded, highlighting any significant positive or negative variances. Undertake ad hoc site inspections as necessary, to monitor works in progress. Maintain awareness and appropriate usage of the different forms of building contracts available to PRS. Analytical skills and the ability to handle numerical, property and financial information. Practical and logical qualities and a methodical way of thinking A solution oriented approach to problems. Ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision. Ability to prioritise own workload. The ability to use a variety of IT packages and management information systems.
