2 Position Summary and Requirements Reporting to the Manager People, Risk & Compliance. The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer will be required to develop, implement, monitor and review WHS related systems and processes that are being used across YMCA South Australia s Operations. The WHS Officer will provide significant administrative support and will champion safety across our programs and operations with a focus on reducing risks and injuries and increasing the awareness and importance of WHS throughout the organisation. Key Accountabilities (Main area of responsibility i.e. Recruitment) Key Tasks (i.e. (Specific key actions as required of the Key Accountability) Measures (i.e. how to tell when the job is done) Compliance to regulatory and company safety requirements and systems Immediately reporting incidents as per policy and protocol Immediately reporting and responding to any requests of Office of the Technical Regulator, Return to Work SA and Safework WHS guidelines Management and reporting of monthly safety audits Reviewing of all Safety Data Sheets and maintenance of register Monitoring use, suitability, practices and purchasing of all rated and certified plant and equipment Completes reports for submission to Internal parties and external regulatory agencies Conducts thorough accident investigations, property damages, with follow up corrective action; Target: Achieve 100% compliance on internal site audits Report all Critical and Major incidents within agreed policy timeframes WHS Service Provision Developing and maintaining safe systems of work and consult with line managers to eliminate or manage hazards across operations Providing coaching and mentoring on WHS matters to all YMCA South Australia staff Fostering and maintaining strong relationships and networks with key senior internal and external stakeholders to understand key issues, collaborate on improvement opportunities, and set standards in workplace health and safety Participating in key internal meetings related to WHS and Risk Assessment Provide basic advice to management and staff in relation to WHS policy and procedure Service Provision Feedback survey quarterly KPI Quality of advice provided (as determined by Manager People, Risk and Compliance from relevant feedback or escalation of issues) Currency of WHS Documents on Intranet

3 Assist in the development of, or simplification of WHS forms and processes as required Assist in the makeup and administration of Intranet WHS Folder Review organisational risk register Auditing Auditing of operations including chemicals & hazardous materials Internal and External Audits completed as per annual schedule Return to Work Processes Oversee the coordination of occupational rehabilitation and injury management in the workplace. Coordinating return to work program in conjunction with suitable site delegate Liaising with insurance company on workers compensation claim Provide insurance advice to senior managers in relation to tender applications and contract reviews to ensure appropriate coverage and compliance. Administration and coordination of Return to Work SA processes Quality of service provided (as determined by Manager People, Risk and Compliance, relevant area manager or Gallagher Bassett from relevant feedback or escalation of issues) Coordinating and reporting of hazards and incidents, including incident investigations Drive risk assessments, incident reporting, audits and incident investigations across operations Management of action plans to implement countermeasures and permanent corrective actions Participating in the conduction of risk assessments on plant equipment and procedures Develop and Review Risk Assessments, uploading to intranet and creation of register Investigations completed within 21 days. Reporting Preparation of monthly safety reporting Preparation of bi monthly WHS Committee meeting correspondence and minutes All safety reporting completed by the 5 th day of every month Consultation Administration and coordination of WHS Committee Administration for the Risk Management Committee Follow up WHS actions from relevant Committees, audits and requests in a timely fashion Target: 85% completion of all tasks/actions listed on previous months minutes for WHS committee

4 Other Undertake WHS Project work as identified and agreed All other duties as determined and required Project plan developed and actioned to agreed time frames Essential requirements You will be required to: Understand and work within the guidelines of the YMCA South Australia Safeguarding Children / Young People and other Vulnerable People Policy Familiarise yourself with all policies, procedures, work practices, and maintain currency of knowledge in relation to Work Health and Safety Take responsibility for own observance of safe work practices and safe work environment and undertake no actions or omissions, which will adversely affect the health and safety of other persons Conform to all reasonable instructions or policies given by management in relation to work, health and safety Cooperate with YMCA South Australia with respect to legislative work health and safety requirements and relevant YMCA Health and Safety Policies Be responsible and accountable for adhering to the requirements of the Equal Opportunity Act Providing an inclusive workplace environment through adherence to the YMCA s Access and Inclusion Policy Inform your Manager of any issues or concerns that may affect your ability to safely perform your role in order to enable the YMCA to meet its obligations for providing a healthy and safe working environment for all employees.
