1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: DEPARTMENT: GRADE: REPORTS TO: Project Manager Operations Directorate 34,437-37,623 per annum (Manager B Scale) Operations Manager SUMMARY OF JOB: Reporting to an Operations Manager you will be working as part of a team to lead and give support on InterTradeIreland s projects and activities. You will work as part of the wider Operations team and contribute to overall team and corporate requirements. KEY DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver and develop work programmes and initiatives in line with government policy and customer needs; Deputise for the Operations Manager as required and work under your own initiative to ensure programme deliverables remain on target; Proactively manage and monitor project / programme delivery and adherence to budget against key performance targets; Prepare material for submission to the Board (and Board sub-committees) of InterTradeIreland and make formal presentations as needed; Oversee receipt, authorisation and processing of claims for payment from programme participants and delivery agents; Record project and financial information accurately on InterTradeIreland s IT systems with a demonstrable attention to detail; With the Operations Manager, prepare budget estimates, monitor and control expenditure; Oversee communication activity, liaising accordingly with internal and external stakeholders; Proactively manage relationships with third party service providers and / or managing agents to ensure prompt and accurate communication of relevant information and satisfactory delivery of programme objectives; Contribute feedback to the development of the programme; Manage and co-ordinate project evaluation and appraisal procedures as and when required in line with Corporate reporting frameworks;

2 Organise events, sometimes in partnership with key stakeholders including design and delivery of PowerPoint presentations on InterTradeIreland supports suitable for a variety of audiences; Liaise with senior staff and executives in government bodies, development agencies and SME s (Small and Medium sized Enterprises); Understand economic development business networks and the needs and issues surrounding SME s in both jurisdictions; Understand the functions and responsibilities of government departments in both jurisdictions; Supervisory/management responsibility of staff when required; Any other duties as required by line manager. The above is given as a broad range of duties and is not intended to be a complete description of all tasks.

3 PERSON SPECIFICATION Educational and Professional Qualifications Essential Criteria: Desirable Criteria: A business related third level, or equivalent, professional qualification and/or a minimum of 3 years experience of working in a business development role. Previous Experience/Training Essential Criteria: 2 years experience and responsibility of all aspects of project management including project development, delivery, monitoring, evaluation and budgetary control. Demonstrate a working knowledge of issues affecting SMEs. Experience and knowledge of economic development/support networks available to SMEs. Knowledge and experience of building and monitoring budgets to a high degree of accuracy. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, paying attention to the relevance of the content and the target audience and demonstrating the ability to persuade and influence others. Desirable Criteria: 1 years experience of working in a project management role in an economic development agency/organisation. Demonstrate experience in dealing with SMEs in an advisory role. Knowledge and experience of public sector tendering and procurement. Experience in organising and delivering events such as conferences and workshops. An understanding of the key SME supports offered by the main economic development agencies on the island. The ability to design and deliver PowerPoint presentations to a variety of audiences on a variety of subjects.

4 Demonstrate a working knowledge and experience in CRM/Database management. Demonstrate experience in the use of negotiation skills with any type of 3 rd party external contractor. The ability to seek, organise, evaluate and analyse information to assist decision making. Be able to demonstrate strong technical skills in Microsoft Word and Excel in a business context. This post will require travel across the island and candidates must be able to demonstrate how they can fulfil mobility requirements for the post. The work may also require some evening and weekend working.

Manage Services and Operations Successfully managing and delivering any type of business support programmes to completion. Strong analytical skills and evidence of having used IT in a business context. Display a strong interest in current economic affairs as they affect trade and business on the island, and in particular those with greatest impact on SMEs Communication Skills Demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication skills with evidence of an ability to engage and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to establish a network of key external contacts and develop effective working relationships with them. Share information and expertise willingly, speaking with authority and persuasiveness. Manage People Evidence of ability to work independently and as part of a team. Evidence of successfully managing a 3 rd party contractor. Demonstrate self-confidence in dealing with a wide range of situations and people at all levels.
