EXPLORATION: The exploration program was initiated well back in However systematic exploration commenced during onwards through Geo- physical exploration, geo-chemical sampling followed by core drilling in 03 phases. The detail exploration executed in given hereunder-

5 RC DRILLING: In , 19 RC drill holes were carried out in the Q-3 by ACC Ltd (Mineral Exploration Wing) with 594m. Geo Physical Exploration Details: A detailed prospecting operation was taken up in the area under reference to evaluate any workable manganese deposit within the leasehold was done by M/s Earthprobe, Jamshedpur to outline the deposit and to find out the economic viability of the mineral deposit. The different methods used to attain the goal are as follows: a) Conventional geological survey of the area includes the study of structural as well as geomorphological features. b) Detailed geo-chemical study of the area, which includes the collection of surface samples to a random grid and data from the workings and Magnetic Survey in a 100m grid for the demarcation of the Potential Mineral Zone (PMZ) from the analytical results of the samples. c) Detailed geo-physical prospecting (Electrical Resistivity method) of the area in a 100 grid with in the PMZ for determining the vertical extent/continuity of the ore body. On the basis of the above-mentioned studies, the following facts and figures are obtained: Preparation of Geological Map along with sample location, Magnetic points and the Resistivity well location. Demarcation of the Potential Mineral Zone on the basis of the analytical as well as magnetic data. a) The approximate grade and recovery of the mineral (Iron Ore), which ranges in between 50-66% Fe content with a recovery range of 55-68%. b) The parameters for resource calculation are calculated as follows on the basis of different parameters processed through software are rock density, interspatial pore spaces, cleavage, hardness and interpreted LOI: Litho unit LF LIF Tonnage Factor (Density for Conversion) Recovery Factor 55% 59%

6 HMIF SIF % 65% Apart from the Iron ore, some manganese mineralization is also observed near the extreme South-western corner of the lease hold, but due to extreme variability in the nature of deposition of manganese mineralization and very low recovery, a consistent planned production of manganese ore is very difficult to achieve from the leasehold. Closed spaced drilling Detailed systematic exploration program was started in , where 26 core drills were made on 400m x 200m grid in Iron ore horizon and 07 core drills were put in the Mn ore horizon on 50m x 50m grid in In addition 79 core drills in iron ore horizon on 200m x 100m / 100m x 100m grid and 16 core drills in Mn ore horizon on 50m x 50m grid using wire line triple tube drilling were conducted in covering the entire ML area. Drill core logging & sample preparation: Drill core logging and sample preparation were done in-house. The drill cores put in metal boxes were first geologically logged and then marked for sampling. The sample length was marked on lithological parameters and the standard sample length is 1.0m. The hard core samples were splitted by core cutter. The samples were then weighed and split using a Riffle Splitter. Half of the split sample was left in the core boxes and the other half have been used to prepare sample. Sample analysis: Sample analysis was conducted in NABL accredited labs (primary labs) for assay of Fe, Mn, SiO2, Al2O3, P, S and LOI. Around 10% of the samples were reanalyzed at another NABL accredited laboratory (umpire lab) for validation of the primary lab analysis. Bulk Density measurement: Bulk density measurement was done on the drill core samples based on litho logy. Water displacement method was selected for the program. The samples were dried at 1050C for 2 hours to dry the external moisture and then weighed. The dried samples were then coated with wax and weighed again. The wax coated sample was then lowered in 5 liters Beaker filled with water and the displacement was measured and the bulk density was calculated on these data. Based on this measurement, the average bulk density of the Iron Ore is 3MT/m3 and that of Mn ore is 2.3MT/m3.

7 Further the tonnage factor test has been undertaken by M/s Earth & Environment Laboratory, Bhubaneswar; a NABL Accredited Laboratory. Mining lease area over hectares is explored in through RC drilling by ACC Ltd, then through Geophysical prospecting in by M/s Earth probe, Jamshedpur followed by drilling of 128 number of core drills as per the following table : Financial Year No. of holes Type of drilling Total RC drilling Core drilling -do-do--- Total length of drilling (m) Average Length of drilling (m) To prove barrenness of Q-3 floor and to facilitate reclamation for systematic and scientific mining, 05 DTH holes were put at the floor of Q-3 during FY The results are put hereunderfinancial Year No. of holes Type of drilling DTH drilling Total length of drilling (m) Average Length of drilling (m) C. 9 D. Environment Management Program: The key features under environment management program are as follows; - Mines runoff management: Based on the surface topography, the lease hold area of Ha is divided into four blocks; north Block, Central Block, the South Block and the Kathamala RF area. As on date mining and allied activities are restricted to Ha and the rest Ha is virgin. The major part of the surface runoff from working areas is being channelized to in pit settling cum percolation ponds located at various strategic locations. The rest part is channelized through garland drain to percolation cum settling pits and check dams. Excess treated runoff if any is finally discharged to Karo Nala and Orahuri nala flowing in the SW & Southern part of the lease. Check dams/s Protection measures such as construction of check dams, de-siltation pond, retaining wall and settling pits have been made to conserve and protect the natural water courses. 22 nos. of check dams/check weirs have been constructed at strategic points to prevent run-off water and flow of sediment directly into nearby water bodies.
