2 Position reports to IT Technical Manager Reportable Positions Nil Position Purpose Qualifications The Reporting Programmer/Analyst provides expertise to develop reporting and data warehouse solutions and to support data integration processes to meet business needs using appropriate technology across all business applications and projects within The Australia Southern Territory. Qualifications in Computer Science / IT or equivalent industry experience. Award (if applicable) N/A Classification Hay Level 14 Resource Management N/A Total staff management (EFT) Nil Prerequisites Environment Defined All staff must consent to a police check prior to employment. MS SQL Server Management Studio, SSRS, SSIS, MS Visual Studio, Crystal Reports Specialist Job Competencies Required Technical Database Programming: MS SQL 2005/2008/r2, Informix, Sybase, MS Access Microsoft Business Intelligence Development Tools: SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010 Other Reporting Development Tools: Crystal Report (v7 upwards), MS Access, VB/VBA Others: Statistical Packages (e.g. SPSS), Source Control (MS Visual SourceSafe) IT Operations ITILV3 knowledge and certification IT Best Practice Proven experiences in data modelling (relational/multidimensional) and database design and development (conceptual and technical). Proven experiences in data warehouse and business intelligence / reporting system development. Proven experiences in data integration / ETL processes from various sources and database platforms. Proven experiences in working with large, single/multidimensional data sets for data analysis and statistical reports development. Business processes and systems modelling using industry recognised modelling standards (e.g. Flowcharting, UML/Unified Modelling Language). 5 Key Result Areas Key Activities Standard Measures Development Development environments are configured accordingly Prepare technical specifications to reflect the agreed business requirements Identify and recommend the most appropriate technical direction for a project Develop solutions according to the technical specifications Create system test plans Perform system testing according to the test plans Make solutions available for User Acceptance Testing Change Management Participate in review of change requests to determine suitability Develop technical specs for changes according to the details in an approved change request Incorporate approved changes into the appropriate application(s) Create system test plans Perform system testing according to the test plans Deployment Solutions are implemented into the production environment following user testing Liaise with appropriate IT staff from other areas in order to utilise necessary skills Support Maintain reporting systems and data warehouses in the production environment Work to resolve all assigned support issues as appropriate Provide support according to the standard processes/procedures of the IT helpdesk Provide support to reporting server management and database administration tasks Document Management Ensure technical documentation is produced for each development Solutions are developed to meet the agreed business requirements The most appropriate technology is used for each individual development Solutions are proven to work according to the agreed business requirements Changes are implemented according to the correct procedure Solutions are made available to users All appropriate IT staff are engaged in deployment activities as necessary Production reports and data are made available to users as per the agreed rate of availability Technical and support documentation is maintained in a timely manner Reporting Programmer/Analyst V1.0 Page 5
